The Standing Committee on Human Rights and Peace (SCORP) at King-Salman Medical Students' Association (KMSA) is dedicated to fostering a world where everyone enjoys equal rights and peace. SCORP empowers medical students to advocate for vulnerable populations, promote health equity, and build inclusive communities through education, awareness, and impactful initiatives.
Vision: To create a peaceful and inclusive world where all individuals, especially the most vulnerable, have access to their fundamental rights and equitable healthcare.
Mission: To educate and engage medical students in promoting human rights and peace through advocacy, community outreach, and fostering discrimination-free environments in healthcare and beyond.
Advocacy Training: Workshops to develop skills in human rights advocacy and policy-making for health equity.
Community Engagement: Outreach programs targeting marginalized groups, such as South Sinai’s Bedouin communities, to address health disparities.
Awareness Campaigns: Initiatives like "Together Against Stigma" to combat discrimination and promote social justice.
Collaborative Projects: Partnerships with local and global organizations to amplify impact on human rights issues.
SCORP drives change through two core focus areas:
Health Equity: Advocating for universal access to healthcare, ensuring no one is left behind due to socioeconomic or cultural barriers.
Gender-Based Violence (GBV): Raising awareness and supporting initiatives to protect individuals affected by GBV, fostering safer communities.
SCORP’s work aligns with SDG 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions) and SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities), creating tangible impact through community-driven projects. We aim to expand our outreach, strengthen advocacy for vulnerable populations, and collaborate with global human rights networks to promote peace and equity in healthcare systems worldwide.
