Brncui employed a personal technique of stone carving. The Kiss is more a kiss of gazes than of lips. The visual field of each character includes only the eyes of their partner, an accent of strength expressed through the incredible proximity of the characters' eye sockets. In Brncui's Kiss, neither partner dominates the other; there is an equal relationship between them. This can be observed from the perfectly identical dimensions of the two silhouettes, which, in physical terms, express an equivalence of status. Throughout the entire Kiss cycle (1907-1945), Brncui even affirmed that women and men are equals.
