SUSAG MIGRATIONS ANDREANNA ANDERSDATTER WAS THE LINK TO THE OLD SUSAG FARMS.

NOTE: Both of Andreanna's grandmothers came from old Susegg farms. Andreanna was the daughter of Dorten Olsdatter, Fjesme and therefore the granddaughter of Ane Mortensdatter, Susegg(Nergården bruk).

Andreanna was named after her grandmother, Adriane or Andrea Andersdatter, Susegg, from the old Saasegg farm( Netua) daughter of Anders Kristoffersen, Andreanna's 2nd great-grandfather on her father's side of the family. The longest family history is from her mother, Dortea's, side of the family, going back to Andreanna's 7th great-grandfather, Bertel Susegg (Nergården), born about 1575.

In that same line, the THIRD Susegg bruk, Auststua, enters in where Andreanna's 2nd great-grandmother, Beret Eskildsdatter, was born on the Susegg (Auststua) Bruk. She married Anders Tomasen, Susegg (Nergården) from the Bertel line. Sivert had connections to the Susaeg farms through his marriage and by living on husmann places located on Susegg farms. His uncle, Ingebrigt Simonsen, Skillegrind married Andreanna's aunt, Sofie Svendsdatter, Kjesbu.

WHEN SURNAMES WERE REQUIRED IN NORWAY:

For surnames, the offspring could take the name of the more prominent spouse, Sons Edvard and David took the name "Susaeg" or Susag, and Johannes (John) and Antonius took the name of their father, "Sivertsen".

Andreanna and Sivert emigrated to North Dakota in 1888, along with their son, David Susaeg. Their other two sons, John and Antonius, had already emigrated and homesteaded at Cayuga, Sargent County, North Dakota. Sivert died in 1902 and is buried in the Lutheran cemetery near Rutland, ND, called Nordland.

Andreanna lived in New Norway, Alberta, Canada with Antonius and his wife, Ellen Christine Gabrielson. They moved there in 1910.

In March 1995, Ralph Hammersborg from Seattle, went to New Norway, Alberta, Canada, to search for his great-great grandmother, Andreanna's, grave. He was pleased to find a well-kept one acre, fenced cemetery called New Norway Cemetery, surrounded by open, waving prairie. Inside he found the grave of Andreanna. An old, white-washed tombstone bordered with roses bore the inscription "IN LOVING MEMORY OF ANDREANNA, WIFE OF SIVERT JOHNSON, WHO DIED APRIL 26, AGED 96 YEARS, 8 MONTHS".

Note: Norwegian Census records indicate Andreanna was born 1824, so this would mean she died April 26, 1921. Her birthdate would be August, 1824.

NOTE: ANDREANNA'S GRAVE IS LOT#83 IN THE OLD PART OF NEW NORWAY CEMETERY. HER SON, ANTONIUS "ANTON", WHO DIED 16 JULY 1937, WAS BURIED 18 JULY 1937 IN THE SAME CEMETERY; HOWEVER, THE NEW NORWAY MUNICIPAL OFFICE ACKNOWLEDGES THERE ARE 10 LOST GRAVES IN THE AREA OF LOT #83 AND IT IS LIKELY THAT ONE OF THEM IS ANTONIUS SEVERTSEN.
