Learner-centered syllabus

See the document below for an example of a learner-centered syllabus. I endeavor to make my syllabi learner-centered through:

  • the exposition of my learner-centered teaching philosophy

  • the use of conversational tone

  • providing rationale for learning tasks in relation to course learning objectives

  • including policies to support positive classroom climate, including pronoun and microaggression policies

  • including a basic needs statement and campus resources for students

  • signaling flexibility in relation to grading, accepting revisions, late policy, etc.

  • centering the need for open communication
