Hello to all and welcome to my storybook!
I will be focusing on three different stories that are stretched across King Arthur's life. The stories that get passed down about King Arthur usually have to do with his knights and not so much about Arthur. The first story will focus on the beginnings of King Arthur and his finding of Excalibur. The next story will involve Morgan Le Fay, a powerful witch who is the cousin of King Arthur. The third and final story will focus on the death of Arthur.
For the first story I will be doing a retelling about Arthur and finding Excalibur. I feel that this story often gets drawn out and takes a while to get to the climax. It is better to skip to small details and include the most important parts like what happened directly during Arthur retrieval of the sword and what happens when he gets back to Camelot. When Arthur comes back to Camelot with the sword, he is proclaimed king. Why does retrieving a sword mean he gets to be king? This story will answer that very important question.
The second story will be following Morgan Le Fay. Now Morgan is mentioned every once in a while in the stories of King Arthur and I feel that this story will be great in showing an important side of this character who lingers in the dark. Morgan is the cousin of King Arthur and a very powerful witch. She is often seen as a protector of him and his knights but in other stories she is seen as an evil temptress. She is described as being a majestic being with a great beauty. She is thought to have long brown flowing hair, blue piercing eyes, and soft smooth skin. By doing a retelling of this story I will showcase a woman who was misunderstood, and it will give everyone a better look into what she is going through when Arthur is named king and why she wants to destroy him. One question I have always wondered is, “Why does Morgan not want Arthur to be king?”
The third and final story is going to be focusing on Arthur's death and Sir Lancelot and Queen Guinevere. Lancelot was Arthur’s most trusted knight and was considered his very best friend. He was gallant, chivalrous, very handsome, and yet deadly when wielding a blade. He was involved in a love triangle with Queen Guinevere who was the wife of King Arthur. Guinevere was known for being the most beautiful woman in all the land and her long blonde hair and brown eyes were a sight to behold. Arthur and Lancelot ended up both falling in love with the same woman, Guinevere. Throughout the stories of King Arthur, this triangle often brings the three into conflict. Often you do not know who Guinevere will end up with. As they all grow old together one day Arthur dies from battle, but the thought I had is, "What if Arthur had died from old age instead of in battle?" I feel that would vastly change the narrative of how the end of Camelot came to be.
Thank you for checking out my Introduction and I hope you enjoy the stories that follow.
