Metal Rattlesnake play ...with an invasion of killer robots!
The stage was a reinforced landing platform on the asteroid mining colony of Sector 7. Above, the vacuum of space was silently choked with debris of a shattered moon. But a real threat was closer to the ground: suddenly the silence was gone as an army of X-11 Annihilator Droids attacked with a merciless display of their destructive force. At the center of the inflicted chaos stood an unlikely duo. A massive green-skinned veteran of the Galactic Marines in a bright orange flight suit gripped his five-string bass guitar like a heavy weapon. Beside him a hulking purple-skinned drummer in a black flat cap, black shirt and black jeans sat behind a vintage Ludwig kit that had already survived three planetary invasions.
As the first wave of robots closed in their red optical sensors locking onto the duo, neither of the two did reach for their blasters. Green fingers were slammed viciously against low-tuned strings. The resulting vibration didn't just travel through the air but it rippled through the very deck plates. It roared over the whine of the X-11 Annihilator Droids’ charging plasma rifles. The sudden thunderstorm created by the bass-player was responded with a blistering beat from drums that sounded like a freight train falling through a wormhole. The music was a tectonic fusion of intergalactic sludge and heaviest metal. It was pure Metall. It created a localized resonance frequency.
Inevitably, the floor plates buckled. With a screech of tearing metal and a plume of pressurized steam the great defender, the Metal Rattlesnake erupted from the substructure, a thousand tons of articulated chrome and steel. Its eyes glowed with the same rhythmic intensity as the snare hits. The giant serpent didn't just begin to fight the invaders. It danced to the riffs and with every powerful beat its tail thrashed like a massive sonic resonator. It thrashed sending out shockwaves that actually shattered droid processors. Synchronized with blast beats, a frenzy on the cymbals, the snake’s fangs retracted to reveal twin flamethrowers melting the robotic vanguard into slag.
And so the invasion was accompanied and at the same time fended off by walls of sounds so heavy the X-11 Annihilator Droids were forced to move closer to the slaughtering serpent. They desperately tried to adapt. A squad of flier-droids descended from the skies, spraying the snake’s armored skull with laser fire. But the two musician’s sonic sound of Metall cranked up to eleven was sliding into even more distorted spheres that tore right through the audio-sensors of every droid within a mile. Disoriented the fliers collided in mid-air falling like rain onto the scorched platform.
The battle raged on. Then a massive capital ship loomed overhead. The defenders needed to play one majestic, devastating harmony. A crashing gong, a sustained vibrating low-B note. The Metal Rattlesnake coiled itself tight, then launched into the sky like a rocket with its metallic body glowing red-hot. It pierced through the hull of the droid command ship detonating the core in a silent, beautiful explosion of stardust as the remaining robots powered down their master signal severed.
With the fading of final sounds silence returned. Once more Metal Rattlesnake had played to save the day.
