History of Kickin' It Country

Kickin' It Country began in January of 2018 as a radio show for the COM-292 Radio Production class at Washington & Jefferson College. The show continued as so for host Cassandra Muhr for three more semesters, but simultaneously developed into its own project and source of pride. The show aired on WNJR 91.7FM until May of 2021. The show has since become its own freestanding podcast, with the hopes of returning to the airwaves in the future.

Through the semesters, the show has expanded from being solely music and industry news to now including artist interviews and more. Click through the pages to hear past episodes.

Meet the Host

Cassandra Muhr graduated from Washington & Jefferson College in May of 2021 with a B.A. in Music and a B..A. in Communication Arts. Beginning in the fall of 2021, she will be attending West Virginia University to pursue an M.A. in Music Industry. Afterwards, she hopes to pursue a career in artist management and A&R in the country music industry. She hopes to one day own her own record label.

Cassandra has loved country music for as long as she can remember, and there is no doubt in her mind that hosting a country music show was her calling. Long-time listeners know that Cassandra's favorite artist is Hunter Hayes, and his music makes a frequent appearance on her show. Despite this, Cassandra has a love for all country music, and spends her free time attending concerts.
