I've noticed that I'm using the same kick in nearly every single song I make.

Now I'm thinking about changing that but I just can't seem to find anything that fits better than what I currently have.

"Kick Out the Jams" is a song by MC5, released as a single in March 1969 by Elektra Records. The album of the same name caused some controversy due to inflammatory liner notes by the band's manager, John Sinclair, and the track's rallying cry of "Kick out the jams, motherfuckers!". According to guitarist Wayne Kramer, the band recorded this as "Kick out the jams, brothers and sisters!" for the single released for radio play; lead vocalist Rob Tyner claimed this was done without group consensus.[3] The edited version also appeared in some LP copies, which also withdrew Sinclair's excitable comments. The album was released in January 1969; reviews were mixed, but the album was relatively successful, quickly selling over 100,000 copies and peaking at #30 on the Billboard album chart in May 1969 during a 23-week stay.

I'm just wondering what peoples opinions are or ways of doing this effectively. I often find myself using one drum in the intro that I like the sound of however it's too long for the drop and so I pick another shorter snappier kick. I also normally have some transitions where I'll use a lo-fi or longer kick to give a large contrast between breaks when theres not much tension and the builds/drops. While I like this and enjoy the sound some people have told me when they listen on large sound systems the difference between the kicks is too much. So I'm wondering if you guys have any tips on how to do this better or alternatives to this.

Have you ever struggled to get your kick and bass sitting just right? Have you ever found it hard to get them fat while still being in the same key? You are not alone, and you might be making things unnecessarily hard for yourself.

I've been hearing more and more about this lately. Just like the "high pass filter everything" rule, here is yet another Youtube tutorial tip that has been blown out of proportion. If you haven't already heard this one, a tip has been spread that "you must have your kick in key with your song". As you know, I am highly against the concept of rules that apply to every song. I am a firm believer of listening and approaching things case by case. Here is my take on when you should tune your kick, how you should, and when you shouldn't.

The only times I think you need to have your kick in key with your song is when you are using a long tonal kick that has a clear note to it. e.g. big room boomy EDM kicks, Trap 808 kicks, and sometimes long Techno kicks. If your kick is short and percussive (like most kicks), it is unlikely that its pitch will have a clashing problem.

If it is not causing a pitch clashing problem, yet you decide to tune it anyway, then one of two things will happen. You will tune it up and then your kick will become too punchy and have less bass, or you will tune it down and your kick will lose punch and become too subby. Basically, if your kick is not tonal, you should choose the pitch based on the punch and frequency feeling, more so than a note on a keyboard. It's not worth sacrificing a great sounding and feeling kick drum, just so the numbers/notes seemingly match up.

If you have a kick that hits every note with a bass/808 note then it is in this case important that they are not clashing, and instead of complimenting. I highly recommend experimenting with the kick's pitch in this case as it will gel better in one pitch more than others. However, you may just be better off using a more percussive/shorter kick in this case. Let the bass/808 have the note instead. Also, if your bass/808 is playing a melody/changing pitch then some notes will match with your kick, and some won't. Again, this is another reason to just use a percussive/short kick and avoid this problem altogether.

I'm trying to make a remix of a song and I need the kick out of the song. I tried messing around with EQ but that didn't do much. I've also tried using Logic's Multipressor but I just can't nail it. Anyone know how to?

The bored, confused, slightly depressed ramblings of a teenaged girl, voiced by Paula Kelley, appear six minutes into this song. And every time they do, I feel some kind of melancholic nostalgia for the time I was a bored, confused and slightly depressed teenaged boy. Not that we had orange trees in our backyard.

Hello! I've been listening to the Chainsaw Man OP (KICK BACK by Kenshi Yonezu) and was wondering if anybody knew any songs like it? I'm looking for something with a similar vibe or sound to it- I really enjoy the chainsaw noises and overall... grunge/crunch/rock sound it has. (I'm not well-versed in music terminology so bear with me and silly attempts are describing what I like ha ha).

I listen to the Doom 2016 soundtrack, and I really enjoyed the Dorohedoro soundtrack too.

TDLR: Any reccs for some nasty music?

Si I've been having this problem since I began drumming: I can't properly hear where the bass drum is in a song. On tracks such as American Idiot by Green Day I can hear the bass drum just fine, but on other tracks such as Smells Like Teen Spirit by Nirvana, I have trouble hearing the bass drum and locating its position in the beat. I can hear bass drums with a 'clicky' sound just fine (eg on tracks like A7X's Critical Acclaim) but when they get drowned out by vocals or other instruments, i have the same problem.

So when it's time to tell people the night is over and they need to go home, what song do you play to motivate them toward the door? I've been using mostly this one and on rare occasions this one. There have to be more that I'm not aware of. So what do you use? And please not Closing Time by Semisonic.

Sounds like the kick drum is triggering the master compressor way too much.

This is a common error that many people make.

Your master bus compressor needs a side chain filter to allow low frequencies to pass without slamming the compressor.

The song was recorded in Air Studios in London. It was produced by Muse, engineered by Tommaso Colliva and assisted by Tom Bailey. It was mixed and mastered by Rich Costey at Sound Factory Studios in Los Angeles.

Though most believed that the band would not bring it into their live setlist, for 2017, New Kind of Kick has been performed at most gigs as of now. Matt does not do anything when the band perform this song; he leaves the stage and "has time for a tea" according to his Twitter feed. His prerecorded voice is played back while Chris and Dom play the song in the form of a drum and bass jam.

Did you recently treat yourself to a double kick pedal for the first time? Or have you had one on your kit for a while but the slave pedal has been gathering dust? Get your feet flying with these five songs even a beginner can learn!

Crane Kick was a song sung in "Hey You, Don't Forget about Me in Your Memory". The lyrics are about a karate move called the "Crane Kick". It is a reference to The Karate Kid movie franchise.

Have you ever thought about how many songs with kick in the title have been written? This list ranks the best songs with kick in the name, regardless of their genre. Many of the tracks listed are songs about kicking, but just because that word is in the title doesn't mean that the song's subject is exclusively about that. This ranked list includes songs like "(Get Your Kicks on) Route 66" by The Rolling Stones, and "I Get a Kick Out of You" by Frank Sinatra. If your favorite song with kick in the title isn't listed, feel free to add it to the list so others can also vote it up. Songs with kick in the lyrics are fair game too.

Getting a clean mix can be difficult if your kick and bass aren't working together. Both sounds are fundamentals of dance music, so you need to give both enough space in the mix. And this technique, which is one of the five listed in our article about how to mix kick and bass for a clean low end, will help you do just that. Read on for a detailed explanation on how to tune your kick drum for a better mix.

This video puts both ways of tuning your kick drum into practice. In this particular case, the bass plays an F. It's difficult to hear the tone of the kick drum in its original playback form, but you'll notice once it's pitched up about two octaves. In Ableton, you can achieve this by activating warp mode and using the pitch functionality (just below the gain slider). At +25 (or +13) semitones, you can hear the kick drum aligning with the tone of the bass. And since 25 semitones equals two octaves and one semitone, that means the original kick drum is in E and only needs to be pitched one semitone up in order to move from E to F.

You can hear the significant tonal improvement, but also that the pitch-shifting tool negatively impacts the attack of the kick drum. It has become a bit weaker, and you'd rather keep the punch as is. That's why the video moves on to cutting the waveform into two parts: the attack and the rest.

Make sure cut it at just the right place, as cutting the waveform too soon could also affect the attack of the kick drum. Make sure to connect the two halves with an even crossfade and consolidate it to turn it back into a single audio sample.

In the final part of the video (2:40 - end), you'll hear the difference between the first eight kicks (tuned) and the final eight kicks (untuned). With the first eight, the kick-bass mix is a lot tighter and there's more room in the low end.

If I virtually (via a DAW) hit the snare, kick and ride at the same moments in a pop-rock song is that hard or challenging for seasoned drummers in case I wanted to play this song live? I would imagine since the kick is controlled by the foot you could easily pull the rest of the 2 that are controlled with your arms and wrists. ff782bc1db
