I. Consonants
1. The First 16 Consonants
Cambodian has 44 consonants including 33 regular symbols and 11 others modified by diacritics. In this chapter, we are focusing on the first 16 consonants. We will be discussing the other regular symbols and the 11 consonants modified by diacritics in the future chapters, and then we will move onto the vowels symbols.

2. The first and the second series of the consonants:
Please note: Cambodian consonants are classified as belonging to two groups: Group "AW" (low registered sound) and Group "OW" (high registered sound).

2.2. Matching assignment: After the video, match each of the first series consonant with its second series using the following app. Please submit the screenshot of complete exercise.
2.3. Grouping assignment: Watch the video again, and then move the consonants to the left side if you think they are the first series consonant and to the right side if the second series.

Please note that as long as the sentence makes some sort of sense, the grammatical point does not matter. It might not make sense in English but it does in Khmer. Please refer chart Table 1 for to the list of vocabulary.

Matching consonant with its sub-consonant.
Some sub-consonants are smaller version of consonant and some are without the top part of consonant which is called Sɔk "Hair" of consonant.
The consonant and its sub-consonant can not be clustered.
