The font looks perfect on the PDF page, but in the content tool, the text in the containers is showing up interspersed with diamond question mark characters: . According to my accessibility team, these characters will not be announced accurately by assistive technology - meaning we're stuck.

Hi, I'm from Cambodia. I'm using Affinity Designer on my mac, and now I suggest my company buy it for me at work too. But I have a problem. It doesn't support Khmer font. When I use in Adobe software, it's ok?

Hello B Seng Kea

I just found a way that we can use Khmer fonts in Affinity but we need to download a free app called Inkscape. It's free and open source. All you need to do is just write the text and edit in that app and then you need to select Path>Object to Path then save it as SVG then you can insert that SVG file to Affinity Designer without error because that text file was converted to an object file. It available in MacOS too but i haven't try it yet because i'm using Win10 but i hope that will work!

I've seen posts mentioning that incorrect rendering of Khmer fonts has been fixed in AD/AP 1.7.2 (i.e. this post and this post). Yet I still don't find Affinity Publisher 1.7.3.481 (Trial, Windows 10) does the job correctly with Khmer fonts including AKbalthom font series (e.g. AKbalthom Freehand) and all the Khmer OS font series (e.g. Khmer OS Battambang), see the attached screenshot below.

Notice that, I followed the suggestion from this post, setting the Typography script to Khmer. With Akblalthom font series, the ligature option can be set, but it still doesn't render correctly. With the font Khmer OS Battambang, or other Khmer OS font series, the ligature cannot be set (disabled).

Please kindly look into the issue. What's more, kindly look into justified alignment of the Khmer fonts. The fonts have been notorious for justified alignment issue from my experiences with InDesign. Thanks a lot.

Looking around for all the available Khmer Unicode fonts can be time consuming, so we have created this zip archive so that you can download all the known Khmer Unicode fonts all-in-one. Currently there are 152 Khmer fonts included. In the .zip file you will find a PDF with a preview of each font or you can view the preview below. This package is updated whenever we find more Khmer Unicode fonts. If you find a Khmer font that is not included, please let us know in in the comments and we will add it! Thanks!

Hello!

i have problem with font Khmer Unicode,

after install windows XP SP3 and install Unicode 2.01 i try to change name on the folder it don see khmer language i see the corner latter,

How can i do?

You can zoom-in to a website using your browser. Or if you are in Windows 7, follow the instructions here to use another font (you can choose whatever font you want to use) as the default system font. -us/2010/07/15/how-to-install-khmer-unicode-on-windows-7

Okay, now I have corrected the keyboard problem (#2 in my previous comment). The solution was to open your Keyboard Layout folder and copy the FILES inside, not the FOLDER into the Mac Library, Keyboard Layouts folder. Now I can type Unicode again! Yea!  Is this font displaying correctly for you? For me, on my screen (Firefox browser) the vowels are not joined with the consonants. How can I fix this?

I have installed and used the fonts for about a month now. I have trouble getting Sra EE (as si=eat, e-mail..etc.). Is there another way to type the word si (as eat) or e-mail. The instruction provided does not work in my computer.

Yes, some programs still do not support Khmer Unicode. You could try the Khmer Unicode fonts that start with the KH prefix and see if they work. They were designed for Adobe products, but it is possible they will work with Vegas.

I need to display characters in the Khmer language but when I paste them in a text box the box gets bigger but the characters do not appear. I have installed the Figma agent and that has made my desktop fonts available in Figma. I have no trouble with Arabic and Bengali.

It took a reboot for some reason. I can now enter Mtext in KHMER and the characters match when I print to PDF. The problem that @saovrysok is experiencing might be specific to the font definition or the specific characters being used.

Paul Clapham wrote:Have you found that other applications render the Khmer subscripts correctly, using that font?

And have you tested to see if Java renders them correctly in (say) a Swing text component, using that font?

I ask those questions because the problem might be with the font, or with Java's handling of the font, or with the code you produced to convert the string to a jpg. They would eliminate the first two possibilities.

Paul Clapham wrote:Then I would say if other applications don't handle the font correctly, it isn't surprising that Java doesn't handle it correctly. Maybe there's a problem of some kind with the font.

Hi Team,

I am having issues with my PDF export for KHMER - Cambodian language not appearing in the PDFs and same way the Myanmar font appears as boxes. I tried using Aspose.PDF for .Net 17, the most recent version and I see the issue still exists.

Please make sure to install fonts in your environment which support full characters of respective languages. We have tested the scenario by installing Khmer UI and Zawgyi-One fonts in our environment, which support KHMER and BURMESE languages respectively and text was fine and readable in the generated PDF. For your reference, we have attached generated PDF and used font files along with code snippet as well.

I am using aspose.PDF 9.8 because we have a license it restricts me from using the recent version of aspose. Also with the new fonts, I was able to see myanmar getting fixed, however I am still seeing a missing text for the KHMER cambodian language. Please see attached Documents (3).zip (252.0 KB)

In order to display this font correctly, usage of special setting is needed. In latest version Aspose.Pdf for .NET 17.11 Aspose.Pdf.Text.TextFormattingOptions class has been introduced. This class has a an enumeration LineSpacingMode which is designed for specific fonts like you are using in your scenario.

I am glad that Google Docs at least recognizes and displays Khmer text now. Before, the script wouldn't appear at all. However, is there a way to select international fonts, like Khmer, so that Google Docs can effectively be used for non-English scripts in which special fonts are needed?

Yes! Google has an extensive collection of webfonts for webapps hosted on its Google Fonts site, including (currently) 23 different Khmer fonts. (On the left side of the directory, just change the "Script" option to Khmer.)

To add Google Fonts to Google Docs, you will need the Extensis Fonts add-on. Once you have installed the add-on, open a document in Docs and launch the add-on. Find the font(s) you want to add to Docs on the Google Fonts site, then go back to your document and search for the font's name using your browser's text-search function to locate it in the list of fonts. Click it to add!

In SE73 -> Printer Fonts -> ZEPESCP9 device type i have added the LIMONS family font, but i am not sure what Print Controls i need to insert. I am aware the PrtCtl.1 is for Portrait & PrtCtl.2 is landscape. The client will only be pinting in portrait mode so therefore PrtCtl.1 should be all thats specified.

The respondent had fully completed all the fields but it does not appear in Khmer font in PDF form. It's not only the address that does not appear in Khmer font but also the name of the respondent in Khmer, details of feedback/complain in PDF form. You can see the Khmer font is instead of a rectangular shape as in PDF form.

As computer and internet industry gain influence and market in Cambodia, several types of Khmer fonts have been developed as well, such as Khek font, Limon font, Zero-Space font, and many others just to name a few. Most of them were not developed by using Unicode or meet the guideline of the Unicode Standards. However, all of these fonts have been widely utilized with word processing, such as Word in Microsoft Office. Because many of these fonts were neither developed using Unicode Standards nor adopted by makers of World Wide Web (WWW) browsers, many Khmer fonts were not readable without special library drivers.

Khmer Unicode For Window Vista:

Microsoft Window Vista (32bit and 64 bit) comes with Khmer Unicode built-in, but required you to set it up in order to read Web page using Khmer Unicode or to write in Khmer Unicode properly. The keyboard layout is a little bit different from keyboard layout developed by NIDA. Example, to type, kra-bey (in khmer), firstly type "K", then press "Space" to reserve space for Jerng (or Chherng) and press "R". To space between character, hold "Shift" and press "Space". Now, you should have kra. Download Khmer OS fonts from the right side and you will enjoy and have fun with all the fonts style and types.

Khmer Software Initiative (KhmerOS), National Information Communications Technology Development Authority (NIDA), and Open Institute joined to create a project for developing OpenSource software that can accommodate Khmer Unicode-based fonts. Khmer Unicode is a part of their project, but it has not yet widely utilized or built-in as part internet browsers or software applications. It is, however, gradually becoming popular among users/developers in Cambodia. Khmer Unicode has been developed to use in platforms such as:

Khmer Unicode For Window XP:

For MS Window XP, Khmer Unicode Keyboard (NIDA 1.0) driver is required. KhmerUnicode2.0.0.exe (developed by KhmerOS and NIDA) has both Khmer Unicode software and Khmer Unicode Keyboard (NIDA 1.0). Please follow the below instruction to download and install it. If you install the Khmer Unicode in your computer system correctly, you should be able at least to view the web site in Khmer via Mozilla FireFox, MS IE, Opera, and Safari. After installing it and you would like to see if you can read/view the page in Khmer Unicode, open your FireFox browser, and go to all these website , Radio Free Asia ( ), (only in FireFox), To type in khmer, you are recommended to read the Instruction, "Documents How to Write" and follow the Keyboard Layout. e24fc04721
