Oil - ½ cup
Zeera - 1 spoon
Mathee dana - 1 spoon
Onions - 2 sliced
Tomato - 1 chopped
Salt - 1 ½ spoon
Haldi - 1 spoon
Chilli powder - ½ spoon
Potatoes - 5 peeled and halved
Rice - 1 ½ cups
Water - 3 cups
Turn stove on medium 5-6 and use a flat wide pot
Add oil, zeera, mathee dana and wait till golden
Add onion and wait till golden
Add tomato and cook till soft and mashed
Add salt, haldi, chili powder, water, and potatoes
Cover with a lid and cook 15 to 20 minutes on 5(medium heat) till potatoes are starting to get soft. NOT too soft or they will break.
Turn stove off let cool and store away till u are ready to add rice.
When ready to add rice, warm the mixture in the pot for about 10 minutes
Wash rice and add to the heated mixture.
Add water like for matter plow.... only till your first knuckle. Cover and cook on high.... full heat. Wait till water evaporates like mattar plow. If rice looks raw and uncooked add a little water.
When water has evaporated and rice look 90%done, Turn the stove on 2 (low heat) and put the pan under the pot and leave to cook for 10- 15 minutes.
