1. Who We Are
KhanQ is provided by Adilhan Niiazov.
Contact email: khanqsupport@gmail.com
2. Accounts and Sign-In
Using KhanQ does not require an account. You can track expenses, scan receipts,
and use analytics without signing in, and this data stays on your device.
You may optionally sign in with Google or Apple. An account is required only for
features that involve other people or other devices: shared spaces, shared debts
and bill splitting with tracked obligations, and carrying a subscription across
devices.
When you sign in, we receive from the identity provider your email address, your
display name, and a unique user identifier. If you use Sign in with Apple and
choose to hide your email, Apple gives us a private relay address instead of your
real one, and we cannot see your real address.
We never receive or store your password: authentication is performed entirely by
Google or Apple.
3. What Data We Collect and Process
Account data (only if you sign in): email address, display name, profile
photo if the provider supplies one, and a unique user identifier.
Expense and finance data: expenses, income entries, accounts, categories,
merchants, notes, payment reminders, receipt amounts, dates, and purchase items.
This data is stored on your device unless you add it to a shared space (see
section 6).
Receipt photos and files: photos, images, and PDF files that you choose to
upload are processed on your device for receipt recognition. Receipt images are
stored locally on your device and are not stored on our servers.
KKM QR receipt data: when you scan a fiscal receipt QR code, KhanQ may send
the QR receipt parameters to the official Salyk/tax service to retrieve receipt
details such as amount, date, merchant, and purchased items.
Product price and categorization data: to improve category suggestions and
product price analytics, KhanQ may send limited receipt-derived data to our
backend, including a device identifier, receipt identifier, merchant name,
category, purchase date, product names, quantities, and prices. This data may be
used to provide product price history and aggregated price comparison features.
In some cases, corrected receipt text may be sent to improve merchant
recognition and categorization. The device identifier is generated by the app on
first launch, is not an advertising or hardware identifier, and stays the same
until the app is reinstalled.
Shared space data: entries you add to a shared space, together with your
display name, profile photo, and user identifier, so that other members of that
space can see who added what. See section 6.
Subscription data: if you purchase a subscription, we process the fact and
status of that purchase, the product purchased, the renewal or expiry date, and
the identifier under which the purchase is registered. See section 7.
App usage and technical data: device identifier, platform, app version,
locale, feature usage events, receipt input type, notification token, and
diagnostic data.
Support requests: if you contact us or submit a support form, we may process
the information you voluntarily provide.
We do not intentionally collect precise location data, contacts from your
address book, payment card data, or login credentials. Card and payment details
are handled entirely by Apple or Google and are never visible to us.
4. How We Use Data
We use data to provide the app's core features, save and display your expenses
and analytics, recognize receipt data, improve category suggestions, provide
product price history and price comparison features, operate shared spaces and
shared debts, determine whether you have access to paid features, diagnose
errors, improve stability, deliver notifications if enabled, and respond to
support requests.
5. Local Storage
Most personal finance data in KhanQ is stored locally on your device. This may
include expenses, income entries, accounts, categories, merchants, receipt text,
receipt images, product items, reminders, app settings, and cached data.
Amounts, balances, and statistics for your personal accounts are not sent to our
servers. The exceptions are described in sections 3, 6, and 7: shared space
entries, price observations derived from scanned receipts, and subscription
status.
If you delete the app or clear app data, locally stored data may be deleted from
your device.
6. Shared Spaces and Shared Debts
A shared space is a space you create or join in order to keep track of money
together with another person. Data you add to a shared space is stored in Google
Firestore and is visible to the other members of that space.
This includes the entries you add there — amount, currency, category, date,
description — along with your display name, profile photo, and user identifier,
so members can tell whose entry it is. The same applies to shared debts created
when you split a bill and track who owes what.
Your personal accounts and entries that you do not add to a shared space are not
visible to other members.
Invitation links contain a code that identifies the space. Anyone who receives
the link can join the space until the invitation is revoked or used.
7. Subscriptions and Payments
Paid features are sold as an in-app subscription. The purchase itself is
processed by Apple, and we never receive your card or payment details.
We use RevenueCat to manage subscription status. RevenueCat receives the fact of
purchase, renewal, cancellation, or refund, the product involved, and the
identifier under which the purchase is registered — the app installation
identifier before you sign in, and your account identifier afterwards.
Our backend stores a record of your access rights, containing your user
identifier, whether access is active, the date it expires, and how it was
granted (purchase, welcome trial, or manual grant). New users receive a
one-month trial of paid features, counted from the date of registration.
8. Backups and Export
KhanQ may allow you to export your data into a backup file. Exported backup
files are created on your device and shared only when you choose to share or
save them.
Receipt photos are not included in exported backups. You are responsible for
where you store or send exported backup files.
9. Third-Party Services
KhanQ may use third-party services to operate app features:
- Firebase / Google: authentication, Firestore storage for shared spaces,
crash diagnostics, analytics, push notifications, and technical
infrastructure.
- RevenueCat: subscription management and purchase status.
- Vercel: hosting for our backend.
- Official Salyk/tax services: retrieving fiscal receipt details from
scanned KKM QR codes.
- KhanQ backend: category suggestions, product price observations, product
price benchmarks, and product canonical data.
- Currency rate providers: retrieving public currency exchange rates.
- Google Forms / Google services: support requests, if you use the support
form.
These services may process data according to their own privacy policies.
10. Permissions
KhanQ may request the following permissions:
- Camera: used to scan KKM QR codes and invitation QR codes.
- Photos and files: used only when you choose receipt photos, images, PDF
files, or backup files.
- Notifications: used to send reminders and app notifications if you allow
them.
You can manage permissions in your device settings.
11. Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal data.
We may share data with service providers that help us operate the app, such as
Firebase, RevenueCat, backend hosting providers, and official services required
for receipt processing. Data you add to a shared space is shared with the other
members of that space, at your initiative. We may also disclose data if required
by law.
12. Deleting Your Account
If you signed in, you can delete your account inside the app: More - Delete
account.
When you delete your account:
- shared spaces where you are the owner are deleted for all members;
- shared spaces where you are a member continue to exist, and you leave them;
- invitations you created are deleted;
- your access-rights record on our backend is deleted;
- your authentication account is deleted.
Your personal data stored on the device — expenses, accounts, categories,
statistics — is not deleted, because it never left your device and deleting
your account is not a request to erase years of your own records. You can remove
it yourself by clearing app data or uninstalling the app.
An active subscription is not cancelled by deleting your account. Subscriptions
are managed by the App Store and must be cancelled there.
13. Legal Basis for Processing
We process data based on necessity to provide app features, legitimate interests
to keep the app reliable and useful, your consent where required, and compliance
with legal obligations where applicable.
14. International Data Transfers
Some service providers may process data in countries other than your own. We
take reasonable steps to ensure data is protected according to applicable laws.
15. Data Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect data.
However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure.
16. Data Retention
Local app data remains on your device until you delete it, clear app data, or
uninstall the app.
Data processed by Firebase, RevenueCat, our backend, or other service providers
is retained only as long as necessary for the purposes described in this Policy,
unless a longer retention period is required by law. Entries you added to a
shared space remain available to the other members of that space after you
leave it.
17. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the right to request access to your
data, request correction of inaccurate data, request deletion of data, restrict
or object to processing, and withdraw consent where processing is based on
consent.
To exercise your rights, contact us at khanqsupport@gmail.com.
18. Children's Privacy
KhanQ is not intended to knowingly collect personal data from children without
appropriate legal grounds. If you believe a child has provided personal data,
contact us.
19. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The updated version will be
published with a new "Last updated" date.
