KeyFluent Privacy Policy

KeyFluent ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how KeyFluent (the "App," including its keyboard extension) handles information when you use it. By using KeyFluent, you agree to the practices described here.
THE SHORT VERSION
• Your typing stays on your device. KeyFluent does not log, store, or sell your keystrokes.
• The only time your text leaves your device is when you use a feature that requires it — translating a message, or hearing it spoken aloud. In those cases, the specific text you chose to translate or hear is sent to translation and text-to-speech services to carry out your request, then returned to you.
• We do not run advertising, we do not track you, and we do not build a profile of you.
INFORMATION STORED ONLY ON YOUR DEVICE
The following is created and kept locally on your device and is never transmitted to us:
• Words you type and how often you use them
• Your typing patterns and tap-offset ("Tap Map") data
• Autocorrect corrections, learned words, and overrides
• Your selected languages, themes, and settings preferences
• Emoji usage frequency
This information powers on-device features like autocorrect, next-word prediction, and your Tap Map. It does not leave your device, and we have no access to it.
INFORMATION SENT TO THIRD PARTIES TO PROVIDE TRANSLATION AND VOICE
KeyFluent's core features rely on cloud services. When you actively use them, the relevant text is transmitted as follows:
Translation. When you translate text, it is first handled on your device using Apple's built-in on-device translation where available. When an online service is needed, the text you are translating is sent to one or more of these services to generate the translation:
• Microsoft Azure Translator (Microsoft Corporation), reached through a relay server that we operate (our "proxy");
• Google Cloud Translation, reached through the same relay; and/or
• MyMemory Translation API (mymemory.translated.net), contacted directly.
The relay exists to attach our service credentials and forward your request to the provider; the text passes through it only to complete that request and is not retained by us or used for any other purpose.
Voice / "Hear it!". When you tap "Hear it!" or otherwise play audio, the text to be spoken is sent through the same relay to Google Cloud Text-to-Speech, which returns spoken audio.
This text is used only to perform the translation or speech you requested. It is not used for advertising, profiling, or any unrelated purpose. Because these are third-party services, their handling of the data is also governed by their own privacy policies. We encourage you to review them:

If you do not grant the keyboard Full Access, KeyFluent cannot reach the internet, so no text is transmitted — and translation and voice are unavailable. Typing, autocorrect, and predictions continue to work fully offline.
WHY THE KEYBOARD REQUESTS "FULL ACCESS"
iOS only allows a third-party keyboard to access the network when you grant "Full Access." KeyFluent requests it so that translation and spoken pronunciation can work, and to provide haptic feedback. We do not use Full Access to collect or transmit your keystrokes for any purpose other than the translation and voice requests you initiate, as described above.
SUBSCRIPTIONS AND PAYMENTS
Subscriptions are sold and processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. We never receive or store your payment information. Apple's handling of that data is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.
THIRD-PARTY SERVICES WE USE
• Microsoft Azure Translator — translation (reached through our relay server)
• Google Cloud Translation and Google Cloud Text-to-Speech — translation and spoken audio (reached through our relay server)
• MyMemory Translation API — translation
• Apple App Store — app distribution and subscription management
DATA RETENTION
We do not maintain user accounts or a database of your content. On-device data remains on your device until you delete it (for example, by clearing your learned words in the app, or by deleting the App). Text sent for translation or voice is processed transiently to fulfill your request and is not retained by us.
CHILDREN'S PRIVACY
KeyFluent is not directed to children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Because the translation feature transmits the text you choose to translate to third-party services, we encourage a parent or guardian to supervise a child's use of those features. If you believe a child has provided information through the App, contact us and we will address it.
YOUR PRIVACY RIGHTS
California residents (CCPA/CPRA). You have the right to know what personal information is collected, to request its deletion, and to opt out of its sale or sharing. KeyFluent does not sell or share your personal information, does not maintain personal information on our own servers, and does not use your data for cross-context behavioral advertising.
European Economic Area, UK, and Switzerland (GDPR/UK GDPR). You have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to processing of your personal data, and the right to data portability. The only processing of your text that occurs is its transmission to the translation and text-to-speech services described above, which is necessary to perform the feature you requested (Article 6(1)(b), performance of the service you ask for). You can prevent all such processing at any time by not using translation/voice or by turning off Full Access.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be posted on this page with a revised "Last updated" date.
