Gmail Download Settings

I was able to finally get this to work by setting up 2 factor id on my gmail account even though I didn't really want it and then set up the app password and used that. Otherwise I hade done everything ckaas88 mentioned and none of it worked. Now it works.

Thank you so much for getting me on the right track. I have a MF654cdw Color ImageClass. I was getting 802, 806 and 839 errors. I've been trying to get this to work for a week now. I totally forgot about the app generated p/w that is needed with some apps/devices when attempting to use my gmail account. So, for me the first thing that was needed to correct my issue was generating an Google app p/w. From there I followed your steps and it still didn't work. So I ticked the options that best suited my setup. See below.

I then selected "check my SMTP connection" and that was a success. Now, I will say I've had success using that tool but still could not successfully scan to email. However, it worked. With all of the different configurations I tried...and I tried these settings...the difference for me was the Google app p/w. Hope this helps others that still experience issue getting this feature to work. Good LUCK!

To enable or disable conversation settings, open settings and go to the general tab. Next, scroll down to the conversation view setting. You have the option of turning the conversations on or off.

To make this change, click on the Settings icon and then See all settings. Navigate to the Inbox tab and click on the Promotions and Social checkboxes so they are clear instead of blue.

Yes, luckily you can enjoy even more features than those that come with stock Gmail. Installing Right Inbox and other third party apps opens you up to additional possibilities with settings and configurations.

My email notification is not working using Gmail settings. I see that there is connection error that is happening while I try to connect to Gmail. Below are the settings I configured on the Notification Screen and then I also attached screen shot of the errors in that apprear in the console. It has connection error. Please suggest me solution to make this working.

So many thanks with all the great responses, I have been messing with different memcache setups and various things in this install, so will go for another clean install and check the outlook.com then try gmail@work again.

Prob have to do some reading as its not a @gmail.com domain but uses gmail.

Hey Stuart, i was having similar troubles, as i use two step verification on my google account. The way that i got the nextcloud emailing feature to work was to make an app specific password for my nextcloud server by going to my google account settings and adding the application. Google then creates a password, which i used for the nextcloud server login (while keeping my typical username credentials the same). i hope this works for you too.

I have the same issue, impossible to connect to gmail.

I have less secure app enable, simple password, imap is open.

It should work, but it doesnt, someone is able to make it work with gmail or is it not possible ?

In Windows 10 Mail, there's a yellow header at the top saying "Your Gmail settings are preventing us from accessing your email. In the Gmail settings, make sure IMAP is enabled and that Show in IMAP is selected for your folders." I definitely have IMAP enabled in all my Gmail accounts, and all my mail seems to be syncing over just fine. When I say dismiss, sooner or later the header is going to reappear. How do I remove it permanently?

Apparently now, the Mail UI wants the Spam label also selected in the Gmail settings, along with Inbox, Sent, All Mail and Trash. I had two accounts with identical settings and the Spam label was the only outlier. My install is fresh and all updates applied along with the feature update CH20. Also, the POP3 capability does not need to be on. At least not now, as indicated above.

This alone made the ugly yellow notification not pop every time it was re-synced. I did not need to restart the mail client as all it really needs to do it resync to the current settings and get the appropriate IMAP labels from google.

There is no way to access the original CATCH_ALL_EMAIL_ADDRESS that was in Legacy once you go to production. Any changes (as in, new settings, since you will see no reference to the old setting since it's completely unavailable) in the paid version will only work if it is not in direct conflict with the old legacy setting. So you can add recipients, to a catchall but you can't change that it will still go to the original destination set in Legacy mode. If you attempt to change the recipient, it simply doesn't work and ONLY goes to the old destination in legacy mode.

The support for Google Workspace is quite good. The agents have been very easy to work with, but due to the nature of this problem, it needs to be escalated to the team that has access to the back-end settings. So it put me out for a solid day of some forwarding and routing not going where it needs to be. I hope I get a resolution today.

I am not sure what the best thing is to do had I know this... but my guess is that before converting, you should set the Legacy catchall to "discard" and then hopefully the new settings will work without being trumped by the old setting. Unless "discard" trumps the new settings, then it could be even worse.

I've been running Pi-hole on my Raspberry Pi hardware successfully for a long while but have recently seem some strange behaviour with Gmail. I don't normally use the Gmail web page, preferring to use Outlook with my Gmail account, but I needed to go into Gmail settings to make a config change and the settings "cog" icon on the webpage was greyed out. I refreshed the page a few times and looked in the Pi-hole logs for anything being blocked but nothing was showing, so I disabled blocking for 5 minutes and the problem remained. If I change the DNS settings on my router to point to Cloudflare DNS then the issue goes away, so it appears the Pi-hole is indeed blocking something even when blocking is disabled. It isn't just the settings cog either, the Pi-hole appears to be blocking the gmail web page when authenticating any 3rd apps, such as Outlook, to access my Gmail account.

Thank you for the recommendations. I have implemented all of these settings. Emails are no longer getting caught in the SPAM folder, but Google is displaying a large banner at the top of the email message that reads: "This message was not sent to Spam based on your organization's settings". It's a LARGE banner too. Gray background and white lettering. You also have a large button available that reads "Move to spam".

after reading your reply I tried with a new small campaign (my company just renewed Phish Threat for 3 years and I wanted to know ASAP if the toy is broken) and the settings I suggested are still working form me, without banners.

I already seen the gray banner you are writing about but in a different scenario (unrelated to Phish Threat): we use an external non-Google service (maybe also not listed in our SPF record) to send some messages with our email domain, and needed to check the option "Bypass spam filters for messages received from internal senders" in our Spam settings to let such messages through.

I would not skip adding the domains to the Spam Allow List. When I tested with just the IP's it blocked some training emails however it caught some because of the URL's in the message. Once I added the domains to the email list it consistently caught the messages. No banner visible in my email put by Gmail. I'm using Gsuite/Workspace not the free gmail.
