While I've only taught at Buffalo Community Middle School since the 2020-2021 school year, I've been teaching middle schoolers since 2003. I taught 7th graders at the STMA middle schools for the first 17 years of my teaching career, and I taught 8th graders for a few years, too, during times of growth. Since joining BCMS, I've taught 6th grade English and 6th grade Quest English.
I'm passionate about learning and am eager to find new ways to improve my knowledge and my teaching. I earned my Bachelor of Science in Communication Arts and Literature from St. Cloud State University in 2003, earned my Master's of Arts in Education from St. Mary's University in 2007, earned my K-12 Reading Certificate from St. Mary's University in 2014, and earned my Gifted Education Certificate from Hamline University in 2018. I love using what I've learned in the classroom with my students.
My family still lives in St. Michael for now, but our kids are all open enrolled in BHM Schools for the Quest program. This district has been such a great fit for my family, which is why I sought a position here. BCMS is a place that believes in and acts on doing the best for kids, and I'm proud to be part of that tradition.
I update grades as often as I can so families have an accurate, up-to-date picture of how students are doing. This means that grades are usually updated multiple times a week.
Email is the least disruptive way to reach me during the school day; I respond to school email Mondays-Fridays from 7:45 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.
I only occasionally check school email on weekends so as to keep the focus of my weekends on my family. Thank you for your understanding!
