Chapter 1:
Tyumen Poland 2013
He was familiar with the desolate house, but never visited the mysterious attic. Since his great grandfather moved away, the house had become desolate. As he climbed the old rickety stairs, he wondered what the old attic held in store for him. Cautiously, he opened the door to the attic. The door creaked loudly. It was as dark as the night. But Mendy came prepared. He put his hand in his pocket and pulled out a flashlight. He turned it on just in time to see a few mice run frantically to their holes. Boxes were piled one on top of the other. “This will take a while” he sighed as he opened the first box. “A shoe? An alarm clock? Records?” he thought “not in here”. After opening around 25 boxes, he was on the verge of surrender. “One more box won't hurt,” he thought. Carefully he opened the box. Instantly he knew he had struck gold. There in the box lay a rusty handle! Shaking like a leaf, he yanked the handle. He was not prepared for what would happen next. Creaking loudly, the box slowly moved to the side, creaking loudly, revealing a secret staircase! Fearfully, he started walking towards the dark and mysterious stairs. For a second, he thought “maybe I should go back?” but then thought otherwise. “I'll just go check what's down there and then I'm outta here!”. Quietly and carefully, guided by the dim light of his flashlight, he stumbled down the chipped stairs. Reaching the end of the steps, he saw an old oak door.”I wonder if it's locked,” he thought. A quick twist of the knob revealed that he was indeed correct. He turned around and sighed “Oh well,” he thought as he started climbing the steps, “I guess I'll never figure out what's behind that door after all.” Suddenly he trips on the ledge of one of the stairs. Luckily he catches himself before hitting the ground. Pulling himself up, his fingers wrapped around a cold metal object. Examining it with his flashlight, he was thrilled to discover that in his hand lay a key!
