Title:Stochastic order parameter dynamics for phase coexistence in heat conduction

Abstract:

What is the liquid-gas interface temperature of pure water under steady heat conduction? One may naively answer that it should be 100 degree Celsius at 1 atm. For this question, Nakagawa and Sasa predict that the interface temperature deviates from the equilibrium transition temperature by using the framework of ``global thermodynamics'' they constructed [1]. To study this phenomenon from a microscopic viewpoint, we develop a theory of stochastic order parameter dynamics for phase coexistence in heat conduction [2].

In this seminar, I focus on Sec. IIIC in [2]. First, I briefly show the outline of [2]. Next, I carefully review fluctuating hydrodynamics, including the universal form of equilibrium stochastic evolution and ``Ito-Stratonovich dilemma'' in fluctuating hydrodynamics. Finally, I explain the construction method of the stochastic order parameter dynamics in [2] with emphasis on the role of scale separations.
