Two different browsers show an error message (ERR_SSL_PROTOCOL_ERROR) when attempting to download Keepass 2.50 Portable from SourceForge and suggest contacting the web site for a fix. Is this a way to do that?

I am not having any trouble using using firefox or edge to download from the sourceforge download site accessed via the official KeePass download page at . If a download fails try clicking on the "Trouble Downloading?" button and pick a different mirror.

Hey all. So, a couple minutes ago I was on a discord channel (on the webapp). I had previously copied my keepass database from one location to another folder on my computer. The issue is that the db was still in my clipboard and I accidentally pasted it into the discord chat input. I didn't actually send the message, but I'm wondering if this action alone uploaded the db into discord servers. If so, I would be quite worried since I know discord is known to be a bit of a privacy nightmare. Do you think I should be worried about this? I'm wondering if i should go ahead and change all my passwords now, or at least the most important ones.

Hi, For the past week I've been using version 2.38 until yesterday. Following a clean OS install, my first priority is to get keepass2 up and running but I see a new version 2.39 is out. I don't want this new version, so I thought no prob just find the old archives. I've been going nuts following links that say 2.38 but take me to 2.39, a link on a download page for Mono/Linux that take me to a page that sends me right back again and then finally when i do find the older versions there seems to be only Windows installers.

Would a kind soul point me at version 2.38 I can install into linux mint please? I've pulled all my hair out searching but I still have some coffee left so remaining optimistic.

I am trying to automate updating KeePass in a few computers using powershell, so I'm interested in some sort of way to automatically download the latest release from sourceforge, however I cannot make it work. I've seen a lot of references by googling but none work for me. I'm trying this at the current time:

According to this Sourceforge post "The regular download link will work, as long as the download function is able to follow redirects, and does not appear to be a browser source (eg., doesn't have a browser-like User-Agent String), it will simply redirect to the file itself."

@rbart,

if you are willing to ignore the security issue, because you just absolutely need to have KeePass on your local machine, you can grab a build from my Copr:

Be aware: that by downloading and using an older version of any software, you may be at risk due to security patches and missing bugfixes. We recommend using the Latest or Stable versions of our software

The KeePass for Pleasant Client version which best corresponds to your Password Server version can be downloaded from the following locations. Release notes will also indicate a "KeePass Client" version.

Users using Google to search for and download the KeePass password manager and the Notepad++ text editor may have inadvertently gotten saddled with malware, says Jrme Segura, Director of Threat Intelligence at Malwarebytes.

The malicious site looks very similar to the legitimate one and victims think they are downloading KeePass but are actually downloading a digitally signed malicious .msix installer that will trigger the download of malware.

It's hard to explain but if I haven't opened keepass for a week it won't open the directory doesn't look right so after I try to put in password I get message go to your profider I only know is if I go to Dropbox where the updates from keepass gos than I usually click on it and keepass opens up and it's fine

Hackers were spotted distributing malware by impersonating the KeePass password manager, initially by creating a website that looks almost identical to the genuine KeePass offering, and offer a program for download that looks and feels like the genuine article.

People who click on the ad will be redirected via a cloaking service that is meant to filter sandboxes, bots and anyone not deemed to be a genuine victim. The threat actors have set up a temporary domain at keepasstacking[.]site that performs the conditional redirect to the final destination:

As we have noted recently, malvertising via search engines is getting more sophisticated. For end users this means that it has become very important to pay close attention where you download programs from and where you should avoid them. In a business environment, we recommend IT admins provide internal repositories where employees can retrieve software installers safely.

The problems reported on the KeePass forum have been resolved, we have reworked the installation process, KeePass installation is now done by an installer, which should make the installation easier. We are working on further integration with OS X native Cocoa interface, and bundling it with Mono so that a separate Mono download is no longer needed ...

The issue would be with veracrypt, the executable won't run on linux. I suppose you could install it on the windows machine and linux machine and see if they can both open the same secure file. If they can then yeah just put a copy of keepass in it.

Although APK downloads are available below to give you the choice, you should be aware that by installing that way you will not receive update notifications and it's a less secure way to download. We recommend that you install the F-Droid client and use that.

KeePass can be used on a computer running Windows 11 or Windows 10. Previous versions of the operating system shouldn't be a problem with Windows 8, Windows 7 and Windows Vista having been tested. Windows XP is supported. It runs on both 32-bit and 64-bit systems with no dedicated 64-bit download provided.Other operating systems: The latest KeePass version from 2023 is also available for  Mac.

Q2 - Who is impacted?

People currently using keepass that wants to switch to passbolt. Also people that need to use passbolt offline could create a keepass file, place it on a usb file to use their passwords on the go or as a backup.

KeePass Password Safe Portable is a popular open-source password manager with support for several operating systems, one being Microsoft Windows. As a portable application, KeePass Portable does not require installation and can be executed from most locations including USB thumbdrives and external storage devices, including cloud services. The big advantage of KeePass Password Safe Portable over many other password managers is its very unique ability to shield the master key dialogue from keyloggers as it works on a secure desktop.Like many password managers, whether freeware or commercial, this one saves a list of passwords behind very tight encryption and thus passwords can only be unlocked by providing the master key. It also has a built-in password generator, when if used, provides an extra layer of security when choosing passwords for various online services. The developer also maintains a list of third party plugins available for KeePass which, among other things, can integrate the password manager with popular applications like replacing the default Firefox Password Manager or integrating with Google's Chrome browser. Other useful plugins include importers from other managers you may have installed (either from XML/CSV or directly).A lot of work went into creating this program and it's extremely surprising that it's available as an open-source project. Of course if you find the program useful, you're free to support the project on their web site :)Overall, KeePass Password Safe Portable is an excellent choice for keeping track of passwords.Features of KeePass PortableAdvanced features: Key files, YubiKey support.
