徐國錦教授團隊於110年至112年間，開發全新技術，以資料同化方法解決地下流體模式最佳化之效率問題。研究成果於2023年發表於計算領域頂尖的指標性國際期刊《Engineering with Computers》，impact factor = 8.7。該研究對於在地下資源開法與保育、即時監測和長期環境預測等領域具有巨大的應用潛力。包含地熱能源開法、二氧化碳封存、核廢料處置、備援能源地下儲存等永續發展議題。對於國家推動水資源安全、能源安全、及碳中和皆至關重要。
