Depth of field effects (dof) happen in all real optical devices to a certain extent. It is heavily used in photography and film as a style element. In computer graphics, dof is usually generated using ray tracing techniques which increase rendering times considerably. With the Lenscare plugin, depth of field effects can be generated fast as a post-process. It uses a depth buffer for its calculations.

Oh yeah, I forgot to add, it also seems that some of the transparency disappears when i apply the lenscare effect, not quite sure tho, it just seems as tho something is wrong with the colours or alpha or something

BUT, when you then use a depth matte layer like this in lenscare, its like lenscare not only uses the pass to define the z-depth in the image, but to actually BLUR it, its like it uses the depth matte as a trackmatte like a trackmatte works in After Effects normally, and thereby dont blur the edges like I want it to

In these pictures you can clearly see what I mean about the blur and you can also see how I set it up in after effects (maybe i do something wrong there)As you can see if you look closely, it DOES blur, but its like blurring as if it is using my depth matte as a mask aswell, which is kinda stupid:)

What he does in the video? Totally, yep. Whether that's a real field of view effect, that'd be another story. But all he does is load the greyscale image, load as a mask/selection, then apply a lens blur. You have lens blur in AP, just with less settings, but you can substitute, like always, certain effects with some clever operations with masks and filters or other actions.

If you render to an rpf file type, you can put the z depth information as part of the file that after effects reads. The other alternative is rendering a max element that contains the z depth info and using that as a mask in after effects.

aftereffects is rather lackluster in its handling of z-depth, but i think there are plug-ins for it that do a more elegant job. basically, you can only blur at about .5 or .75 before it starts to look odd where the background hits something in the foreground. severe artifacts and such.

His ambition would lead him to work at Sony Imageworks in Los Angeles on movies like Monster House and Surf's Up. Justin has also had numerous articles, tutorials, and images published in 3D World and 3D Artist. As an author, Justin enjoys collaborating with fellow authors, especially on project... mores like the Unity Mobile Game Development Series. Typically, you would want to create things like lens effects in post in After Effects just for the shear ability to change the intensity of the effect without having to go back into the 3D application and rendering again. To this end, Joren also takes a look at the new and standard Camera Lens Blur effect in After Effects and directly compares it to Frischluft Lenscare in creating blur effects which Joren (and I) feel is superior.

Frischluft Lenscare is a really high quality lens effect package for After Effects. Lenscare can create depth of field and out of focus generation with some really great results. If you need high quality camera blurs with the flexibility of 2d post processing, Lenscare is a great choice. be457b7860
