The pandemic has affected all sectors in the world, and Youth Volunteerism is one of them. Although some still does active volunteerism in their respective community, some also go for a more easy and accessible route: The Online World. Many initiatives, organizations, and projects have gone online. And as surprising as it might seem, they have become more convenient, especially for youth, since social media has become an accessible way to seek information and volunteer.
If you are planning to volunteer in a youth-led organization, initiative, or any nonprofits that needs active volunteers, then here is what you should know!
Online Recruitment
When you apply to become a volunteer, it is most likely that you'll be going through an online recruitment process. This is important since the organization would want to know that you've taken an interest in their initiative. In an online recruitment:
You will have to fill up a form about your information, you will also need to provide a Resume or CV.
After filling up a form, you will have to wait for 2-3 weeks (more or less) to receive a confirmation that you applied.
If you passed the initial screening, the organization will schedule a meeting for the interview.
During the interview session, the interviewer will ask you more questions about yourself and the position you've applied for.
If you passed the interview and is accepted to volunteer, congratulations!
Volunteering Proper
Now that you signed an agreement form and are a part of the organization, it is time for the volunteering proper. Now your job as a volunteer will vary depending on the position that you applied for, whether it's for social media management, finance, relations, and many more. But even so, how you do your job as a volunteer will bring the most impact. At times, you will be having a mentor (especially for internship volunteers) who will work and teach you about tasks and what you need to do. Making mistakes during your volunteering proper is normal as it will make you more knowledgeable about what to do next time, so don't worry!
