My name is Katie, and I'm a biocultural applied anthropologist focused on doulas, birthwork, reproductive justice and activism. I have been working on research centered on doulas in Oregon since 2020, known as the Listening to Doulas studies.

I graduated in 2025 from Oregon State University with a Master of Science degree in Applied Anthropology and a certificate in College and University Teaching. I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Sociology and Anthropology from Southern Oregon University in 2022.

I am a Traditional Health Worker Doula for the state of Oregon and have been engaged in birthwork for nearly a decade. I have also taught and mentored many doulas through Doula Training Center, a state-approved community doula training program in Southern Oregon.

I also have a 200-hour yoga teaching certification and have been practicing over 25 years and teaching yoga to all ages for over 14 years. I am a professional henna artist and love to do creative writing, painting and other forms of artwork. 

I am a proud first-generation college graduate, McNair Scholar, and member of the Uplift Lab housed in Oregon State University.
