genikomsou research group
Katerina Genikomsou is an Associate Professor at Queen's University. Katerina and her research group examine the structural performance of reinforced concrete structures using experimental, analytical and nonlinear finite element methods. They examine the performance of the reinforced concrete structures under conventional and seismic actions. Novel materials and construction methods are considered for safe, sustainable and resilient structural connections. Studies on the capabilities of existing constitutive models for reinforced concrete are performed and their results are considered in the numerical analyses.
Current research projects include the following:
Seismic behavior of reinforced concrete slab-column and slab-wall connections
Machine Learning Models for the seismic performance of reinforced concrete structures
High-performance fiber-reinforced concrete for retrofit of reinforced concrete structures
Nonlinear finite element analysis of reinforced concrete structures
Seismic fragility assessment of reinforced concrete structures
Design provisions for punching shear
Applications of shape memory alloys in reinforced concrete structures
Reinforced concrete slab-column connections with GFRP reinforcement and stay-in-place GFRP forms
Community resilience and post-disaster response
