Kate Plourde is a Technical Advisor within the Research Utilization unit at FHI 360. Her areas of expertise include improving the health and well-being of adolescent girls and young women (AGYW), youth sexual and reproductive health, gender, digital health, and program adaptation and scale-up. Her recent work includes leading the development of a multi-component mentoring program that is currently being adapted for, or implemented in, four countries to reach over 40,000 AGYW; the development of a Facebook-based social support intervention for adolescents living with HIV; and the adaptation of Mobile for Reproductive Health (m4RH), a mobile phone-based sexual and reproductive health information service, for youth in Malawi, Tanzania and Uganda. Plourde has published papers on the application of positive youth development approaches for adolescent health, the impact of protective assets on the reproductive health of adolescent girls and young women, how to better serve adolescent key populations, and digital health programs for adolescent sexual and reproductive health, among other topics. She earned an MPH in international health from Boston University and is a DrPH candidate at the University of Illinois at Chicago.
