Kate Mooney School of Dance

Kate Mooney School of dance is based in the Cornish town of Lostwithiel, teaching classes in classical ballet, tap and jazz dance, AcroDancer, Drama and Singing, Musical Theatre, Adults Ballet and Performing Arts. Students gain a firm grounding in the fundamentals of dance technique and improve their performance skills across a range of different genres. Classes are fun and enjoyable. 

Alongside regular classes, the dance school also offers performance opportunites throughout the year. These includes the annual Summer Sharing performance, a musical theatre summer school production, open classes throughout the year and maypole dancing workshops and performance opportunites. Students can complete BBO Classical Ballet, Tap, and AcroDancer exams which are recognised as part of the National Qualifications Network. A warm and friendly dance school where each child is supported to achieve.

About me

I am a qualified Dance Teacher and examiner, teaching dance across a range of different educational settings in the South West. Having completed my degree in Dance at Roehampton University, I went on to study a Post Graduate Certificate in Performance at The London Centre for Theatre Studies. I completed my PGCE in Dance at the Institute of Education which led to achieving Qualified Teacher Status. I spent a number of years in London performing for a variety of different Physical Theatre companies performing at venues across London and the UK. I was a Lecturer in Dance and Performance at City and Islington College and was Head of Dance at Lipson Cooperative Academy in Plymouth. I am a BBO registered teacher and Kate Mooney School of Dance is a BBO registered exam centre.
