Scope of work: Acrylic chain design

In June 2020, Kyushu Island was plagued by heavy torrential rains resulting in floods. Kumamoto Prefecture was among the most affected areas. After spending some time there in 2019 participating in Artist in Aso Residency, I have developed a strong emotional connection with the region. Even though none of the people known to me were directly affected by the floods, I still felt the need to do something. It was especially difficult since due to the global pandemic I was stuck on the other side of the world.

Thanks to one of my Kyushu-based friends, I have found out about the organization called Bridge Kumamoto that was working hard to help those affected by the heavy rains. Art activism played an important role in this process - creators of different kinds were invited to participate in the making of charity goods. One of my drawings was chosen to be used on acrylic keychains that were sold in the organization's online store.

All proceeds went to help those affected by the floods.
