Foundations, digital photography, 2016

The project focuses on the role medications can play in the lives of people struggling with chronic illness. Some hold the belief that pharmacotherapy is a solution to all of the problems caused by the medical condition. However, closer to the truth is seeing it as a kind of foundation upon which one can build a life. Still, it is not particularly stable construction. As those captured in the photographs, it requires constant attention.

I have been living with different chronic conditions for the most part of my life. Medications were not always present, not always necessary. However, at times they were essential to me being able to perform even the most basic of daily functions. The constructions captured in the photographs were made out of blisters from the different medications I was taking at that time.
