Our Guest Conductor: Lissie Quishenberry
Lissie Quishenberry is the director of the K-8 music and drama program at the Barnhart School in Arcadia. She also directs the First Experiences in Choral Singing (FECS), which she piloted in the fall of 2011, and teaches Level VII Musicianship and Conducting for Los Angeles Children's Chorus (LACC). Having directed at Glendale City SDA Church for 11 years, Mrs. Quishenberry now organizes an annual sacred children’s choral music festival.
Mrs. Quishenberry received her vocal training beginning her seventh grade year in the Canoga Park SDA Church under the lively baton of Dr. Albert Mayes. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree from La Sierra University, where she studied Elementary Education and Music. She completed her Orff-Schulwerk certification and Secondary Music Education coursework at CSULA and her Kodály Certification at APU. She enjoys applying these diverse pedagogues in classroom, choir, and teacher training settings. She is also a member of the Mountainside Master Chorale and is working on her Masters in Choral Conducting at CSULA.
