Welcome to the web page of Dr. ir. Karthik Raghavan Ramaswamy. You can find more about me and my research activities here.
I was born in Chennai, India, in 1989. I earned my Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical and Electronics from Anna University in 2011, graduating as the academic topper, valedictorian of my class, and recipient of the “Best Student” award.
From 2011 to 2015, I worked as a Control and Automation Design Engineer at L&T Kobelco, a joint venture between Larsen & Toubro and Kobe Steel, where I focused on control systems for heavy machinery. During this period, I also completed my M.B.A. from Annamalai University in 2014.
In 2017, I received my M.Sc. degree in Systems and Control from Eindhoven University of Technology, graduating with great appreciation. I subsequently completed my Ph.D. at the same institution in 2022, earning the distinction of cum laude (with honors).
The primary objective of my doctoral research was to develop scalable and computationally efficient identification methods for accurately modeling large-scale interconnected systems, known as dynamic networks. My work combined supervised machine learning, Bayesian methods, system identification, and signal processing. The resulting dissertation provides a practical and systematic framework for learning interconnected systems in complex dynamic networks.
I am currently a Research Scientist in the Mechatronics and Control Research team at ASML, where I continue this line of research with a focus on real-world applications in advanced lithography machines.
Outside of work, I am actively involved in sports, including badminton, basketball, and table tennis. I also have a strong interest in performing arts and entertainment stage shows, and have performed in numerous theatrical productions as part of Crescent Team Dramatix, including participation in India’s Got Talent.
