The city has become much more than volumes of buildings. For the first time, more than half the population lives in urban areas. As a result, most cities have grown out of control and with disregard for the countryside which supplies food, and water and takes away huge quantities of waste. And an increasing population will place even more pressure on our resources. This is not to say that cities are incapable of self-sufficiency but to achieve such a balance we must provide holistic thoughts. The city must behave like an ecosystem. By providing its own resources and recycling its own waste, the city will be able to survive independently. Summing it up, we need to make our spaces resilient. When looking at means to create a system in which people are self-resiliant, Urban farming as a program can establish the food requirements, alternative job opportunities for the economic stability, a learning opportunity for the community through skill development programmes that can improve their employability.Â

This approach creates prototypes that incorporate high-profit, controlled environment agricultural industry into a vertical building type and locate them in the urban environment. The form was optimized based on solar incident radiation and oriented based on user activities. Three types of cores are provided for public, office, and service movements. The farming modules are placed within voxels with more incident radiation. Grey water from the modules is replenished with treatment plants and fish farms add up nutrients to the input water supply.
