These are characters I may mention or involve in her threads. Yes some are re-tolled canons but they're mine now.
Astrea T'Maria: Astrea isa longtime friend of Kar's, anasari schollar who became a colleague, collaborator, and friend. When Astrea wanted a child without a bondmate, Kar offered to father the child as a sign of their trust and friendship.
Malavai Quinn: The son of Moff Rymar Quinn of Dromund Kaas, a planet still steeped in its Imperial past. Malavai was the as perfect a son as his father expected. Received high grades, served in the military with pride, and for the most part expected a career life in the Outer Rim under the shadow of his father.
His exceptional aptitude and tactical acumen brought him to serve on Coruscant shortly after the battle of Geonosis. Brought into Arca Barracks he had been intended to help the thriving center of military intelligence work with the active armed forces. And for a short time he had, until a summons from the Supreme Chancellor.
Captain Quinn was chosen as the handler of his secret shadow agent. He would also help her work on understanding social graces of the Core World elite, allowing her to pass through those circles without notice.
At first at each other’s throats, eventually Kar and Mal have a sort of kinship. When she defected, he eventually was convinced to help her and join her side, eventually becoming a double agent for the Rebellion, and their mole inside the ISB.
Ruusaan Alor'ade: Kar’s “younger” sister (only by a few months). Ruusaan is Kaan and Juri’s biological daughter, and adopted Kar as a infant foundling a few months before Ruusaan was born. They had a moment of closeness, in as much as toddlers can until the death of their mother. Kaan separated the two; Ruusaan would live with Juri’s family on Concord Dawn, and the newly found Force-Sensitive Kar would stay with him and begin his training.
Free from their father’s severe demands, Saana grew up well-adjusted and loved by her grandparents on Concord Dawn. She started out helping the local sawbones, and vets, which grew into a clear passion. Her grandparents knew she’d fair better going to school offworld, and spend as much of their credits (and whatever they got from Juri’s possessions) to cover her education.
She was accepted at one of the finest medical schools on Coruscant, thanks to a mysterious benefactor. Like any Alor'ade, she was curious and good as sussing things out, learned the benefactor was her long sister trying to be supportive, but worried she might not be accepted. Ruusaan welcomed her sister in with open arms. She’d also be one of the few loyal people to join her in the defection and winds up in the Milky Way. She eventually finishes her degree and created a private practice on the Mandalorian colony. She marries Tye Vhett, a former ARC trooper, and they have a family later on.
Vector Hyllus: Vector is the son of minor Alderaani aristocracy and vassals to House Organa. He lived a well to do life, fully educated in the Alderaani fashion, spent time at court, and eventually went offworld as part of the Diplomatic Corps. Sometime in his early 20s he returned to Alderaan and as part of a diplomatic mission between the Royal House and the indigenous Killiks, Vector volunteered, along with others to to undergo the Joining.
As a Joiner, he was given the honor of Dawn Herald of the Oroboro Nest– a warrior emissary who is expected to face the unknown. As such, this had led him to return several times to Coruscant with Senator Bail Organa as a voice for the Killiks in the Senate.
Through Bail, he was introduced to one of the Senator’s friends: a sharp Mandalorian named Kar Alor'ade. The two hit it off suprisingly well, the friendship growing into something more romantic. At least until she was claimed KIA.
(Kar didn’t want to make him choose between her and the Nest when she defected, and so left without a goodbye.)
He’d mourned the loss, moved on, until nearly half a decade later she came back into his life– not entirely intentionally. After a brief moment of tension airing out grievances, the two fell fast into as the way things are, marrying sometime after 14 BBY.
He became her friend , lover, and soundboard for her diplomatic works– even so far as helping Kar establish the groundwork of diplomatic ties with the rachni in a post-Reaper Milky Way. While he visited home often, Vector could not turn down chance of seeing a whole new galaxy.
But his tie with his Nest would be his downfall. Having a brief time to space before returning to the Milky Way to speak to the Council, Vector opted to visit the hive. Vector, and his hive were destroyed when the Death Star fired upon Alderaan.
It is said Kar’s heart died with him.
Ijaan "Ij" Alor'ade: Ijaan is the eldest child of Kar, twin sibling to Parja. Despite being the product of a drunken rebound fling with Kar's ex partner, they and their sister are well-loved. Ijaan is a child of two galaxies; born on Tuchanka, raised on Tanalorr, they took a liking more to their mother's birth galaxy than their father's. After struggling to "settle" in Grissom Academy, proving to be their parents' child, Ijaan broke out, escaped, and found their way to Dantooine to join the rebellion. Ijaan would find medicine their calling and follow their aunt's steps, evenutally setting up as the Sawbones for Rambler's Reach on Koboh.
Orad Alor'ade: Orad is the youngest of Kar's (human) children, and the only biological child of her and Vector. Born in the Oroboro nest in the middle of a storm, the boy was named Orad. Out of his siblings he has the least contact with the Milky Way, having been born on Alderaan and raised mostly in the Tanalorr temple. While a spitting image of his father, his personality is more his mother's. He was about ten years old when he lost his father and family with the destruction of Alderaan, and was a teen byt the end of the Rebellion, so he was more active in the interim and Resistance. He'd "inherit" the family business; working as an agent and later along side his mother as a information broker.
Parja Alorade: Parja is the younger twin of Ijaan, and the one most grounded in the Milky Way despite having the same childhood. Parja is the more diplomatic of her siblings, interestingly taking more influence from her adoptive father. As such; she followed him in his path of diplomacy, picking up his duties and efforts with fostering goodwill between the Counciland the rachni following his death. As such, she remained mostly in the Milky Way, but her siblings were a QEC call away.
Maia T'Maria: Maia is the current "youngest" child of Kar. Born several centuries after Ijaan, Parja and Orad's passing, Maia was mostly raised by her mother, Astrea, but made agreement for Kar to co-parent the child she fathered. By the time Kar is on Pandora, Maia 300 years old, and a Huntress in the Asari commandos on Thessia, no doubt a partial influence from her Mandalorian father.
2-1B: Doc is medical droid. More frequently used in her younger years, post Rebellion on Doc is around mostly to help those who need it more (ie friends and family, folks who are with her on a missions, etc). He is usually posted on the Enduring (Mal’s repurposed star destroyer and flag ship) with Mal in later years, though sometimes will be berthed on Kar’s flagship.
BD-Y: (Sometimes called "Bee" to differentiate with BD-1, Cal Kestis’ companion). While both are BD explorer units, BD-Y was solely Kar’s and assisted her in many an adventure through the known universe.(That’s not to say both units have crossed paths at some point.) A gift from Bail Organa during the Clone Wars, Bee was with Kar during her defection and time in the Milky Way, was with her on the Normandy during the Collector Mission and Reaper war. As such, he’s been modified, upgraded with a quantum processing unit/blackbox, and on top the things most of Explorer Droids can do, is also now a portable QEC.
Bee and Artie have been her companions the longest (HK is the oldest being at least 3000 years old…), and as such are practically family to her at this point. Bee is a cheerful. inquisitive droid that is always ready for the next adventure. Bee has always been a playmate of her children. He likes spending time with Nazar because of his affinity with the late Legion.
HK-42: a formerly junked ancient HK assassin unit Kar recovered from an auction. HK was repaired and serves as her occasional personal bodyguard– but more often deployed as an agent. It is unknown when he was purchased– just that he came to prominence working on Pandora. Like all HK units, he has a great dislike of “meatbags” and is a very misanthropic droid, barring his mistress. Given the amount of organics that need killing on Pandora, he doesn’t seem to mind his situation. Him and Artie have a shared bond over misanthropy and violence, the two of them seem to be confused and at odds with Bee’s more positive personality.
QOSMA (Quantum Organization System Management Assistant): A true AI linked to Kar’s Greybox, similar to how SAM is to the Ryder Family (SAM could be seen as QOSMA’s cousin, part of Alec and Ellen’s research were given in exchange for hers after all). She organizes Kar’s information network and database, as well as quantum Blackbox for Kar’s memories. Some Void Agents opt to get a greybox implant to have a more direct connection to QOSMA, but it is not a necessity. She was still a baby AI during the Reaper invasion and has grown exponentially in the centuries after. QOSMA has her own personality separate from Kar, especially in later years as the AI grows into her own.
RT-D0: Artie is an astromech droid given to Kar when she was in Republic Intelligence. Hasn’t left her side since. Hasn’t had a memory wipe since the start of the Clone Wars leaving him to be a very eccentric droid whose intelligence borders on the like of fully actualized AI. He is sometimes supportive of her crazy ideas, other times is her voice of reason. Acts like a curmudgeon-y old man by the time she reaches Andromeda and Eridian galaxies, but cares for her family. Still doesn’t mean he won’t sass you, and will if the occasion arises.
TC-22: Teecee is a TC series protocol droid that is technically Mal’s valet and assistant. As such he is usually near Mal on his flagship, or in his residence helping Kar remotely than actually in person. Like many other of his kind, Teecee has a stiff, formal personality programming, which suits his master. He is one of the few protocol droids updated to serve in all six galaxies– although his Psycho-to-Galactic-Basic could use a little improvement.
Alpha ARCS:
A-22 Balor: Captain Balor is the straight man of the group. The textbook Alpha, grim, death on two legs, sort of man. Throws himself into colonial development once New Mandalore is established.
A-68 Tye: Lieutenant Tye is a cheekier sort of man, no doubt an influence from certain Nulls crossing his path. Marries Ruusaan, Kar’s sister, and settles on New Mandalore as regular ol’ colonist. Kind of. He helps out at his wife’s clinic if not found in the local tapcaf chatting up the visitors.
Dinii Squad:
Gurney (RC-1383): Sergeant Gurney is the leader and the medic of Dinii Squad, one of the “Patchwork” squads that wound up losing some or all of their original “pod”. A quiet, empathetic man, who cares for all his brothers, even if they weren’t grown from the same batch. Assists with Ruusaan’s clinic once they settle, with aspirations of formal medical training to be a medical doctor and not just a military field medic.
Kando (RC-1198): Kando has a great lust for life, and sees every challenge as enrichment. As the squad sniper, he is a sufficient hunter and tactician, and is the unofficial “second in command” to Gurney. Took to merc work post-settlement quite easily. If he’s not on New Mandalore, he’s likely out in the Terminus tracking down some slob or another. He enjoys carving, often times making little trinkets for his friends and family. He eventually becomes New Keldabe’s Armorer, and a respected member of society.
Tal (RC-2235): Tal is the squad slicer. He enjoys sweets, and a good barbeque. Maintains a presence in HoloNet/Extranet forums. He is a little bit of a tech jack of all trades– working on mechs, equipment, vehicles, and anything in between. He is a man of few words offline, but that hasn’t been a hindrance. If not near Sho'cye Bral, he is found among the elcor settlement, helping them.
Sol (RC-3201): Sol is the demolitions expert. A real master of improvised explosive devices. Loves bad, shlocky films (like Blasto), and is often found hovering around either Jax, Ex, or Kando scheming something up. But otherwise an absolute professional of a merc. Usually a reasonable guy, but Jax is able to bring out the pyromaniac in him.
Narseryc Squad:
Teroch (RC-1508): Sergeant Teroch is the leader and tech expert of Narseryc, andother "Patchwork Pod". He is known to play a little fast and loose with his slicing, even on Kamino. Only wound up as a Sarge by chance– Narseryc chose their leader through lots when they re-formed. Otherwise, he would describe himself as “just some little guy” with a shrug. Enjoys colony life, fishing, boating, helping the little kid collect shells.
Raysh (RC-1250): Raysh is the straight man of the squad. A very autistic-coded Egon Spengler type of medic. Frank, deadpan, with a dry sense of humor with a lean towards the literal. He keen interest in microbes, medicinal and poisonous plants and fungi. You should see his “Microbes of Omega” collection. His post-defection lifestyle is just a man with a microscope. His videos and streams are fairly popular, leading him for academia instead of merc work.
A’denn (RC-1991): A'denn could be Kando’s twin, both are their squad snipers, and both enjoy life. But that is where it stops. A'denn’s ideal life in the Milky Way is that of a stead farmer. He enjoys the feeling of soil in his hands, the air after it rains, and bringing the bumper crop for the town market. He is one of the few people Kar will allow handle her gardens (he appreciates the trust), and talks to his plants and crops both. However, it doesn’t mean he’s an easy target. He can pick off would-be problems from his porch no problem.
Jax (RC-5195): Jax lives in a world where the best solution to anything is a well-made explosion. If he had been born 600+ years later, he’d definitely be in cahoots with the likes of Tina and Torgue. Thankfully, the Milky Way has a lot of things that need to go boom and people are willing to pay for his expertise.
Epsilon Squad:
Oyad (RC-2208): Sergeant Oyad is a little different than many of his fellow squad leaders. As the squad sniper, he leads from the back, providing tactics and cover for his squad. He enjoys a good cultural exchange, usually music and literature. Post-defection, he too joins the family merc business, but keeps a datapad filled with drafts of adventure fiction loosely based of his and family’s life. Whether or not he actually gets published is something he’s been mulling on.
Ex (RC-2211): Ex is the most level headed of the three demolitions experts. He’s got a bit of surfer dude/slacker vibe…as much as cloned super soldier trained to kill can. Civilian-ish life suits him. Occasional helps out as a merc, but finds himself drawn to more the colonial life. Has a growing interest in quarians. Loves his eventual nieces and nephews and often is the “fun” uncle.
Hoka (RC-4119): Hoka was the only one of the group not in the same “pod”, after losing their brother in the battle of Geonosis. Hoka is a quick learner, and adapts quickly– good things in a slicer. As a merc, he shares a bit of the Mando grey morality– ie he’s not against slicing a few terminals for bit of credits or rigging the machine in his or his clan’s favor. He enjoys bioticball and has been know to be in a betting pool with James post-war.
Tenn (RC-2210): Tenn is a good medic, he has the “he can heal as much as he can hurt” vibe. Unsurprisingly, he got along well with Mordin when his clan was living on Omega. Kept in touch often, and is the third of the Vhetts looking towards academia– xenostudies in his case. He travels more as an explorer than a merc.
Commander Riya “Sunny” Anulla: Twi'lek from the Milky Way. Riya’s family emigrated to the colonies in the Milky Way from Ryloth a few generations ago, some time after the fall of the First Order. Co-Commander of Opportunity’s Security force, and the leader of the Walker squad. Bondmate of Skip. Is often found around the city helping the residents if not spending time with Skip. Riya is also sort of the unofficial “Welcome Committee” to the city for first timers, before having an immigration droid assist. Got the nickname “Sunny” from her partner.
Commander Verus “Skip” Scipius: Turian Co-Commander of security and marksman. Riya leads the walkers, Skip leads the ground troops, and the usual liaison between the Opportunity and the Crimson Raiders. Skip’s ancestors were survivors of the Reaper-ravaged Oma Ker, though he was raised in the Terminus before winding up in the Borderlands. Despite his serious looking demeanor, he’s laid back and gregarious as turians can be. Bondmates with Riya.
Aaranj Mirdalaan: Angara Mandalorian, younger brother to Anjma. Orphaned by the kett, Aaranj was raised by the Mandalorians of Jaster’s Watch on Kadara. Sees Kar as an older auntie figure. He’s more the voice of reason of the two, and is an excellent navigator. He enjoys astronomy and the study of space and the stars, and much like his auntie in intellectual pursuits. He is learning how to pilot the Walkers from Riya. After feeling homesick, Aranj has tried to create a small coalition of colonists locals and Raiders to attempt a semblance of a Cultural Affairs hub like on the Nexus– an endeavor supported wholeheartedly by Kar. He is also particularly sweet on Neeza, the two sharing a love of astronavigation. (It could lead to more in time...)
Dr. Aelon Rannahe: Salarian doctor hailing from from Omega, by way of Jaeto, by way of the Citadel. As a Xenobiology expert, she is known for her work on non-salarian patients. Took the position to work at Opportunity to study the Brain Shiver phenomenon, and is often found working on the people in the nearby town of Overlook. She has also taken to writing to the science teams on Andromeda frequently– sharing their new discoveries from their respective homes away from home.
Anjma Mirdalaan: Angara Mandalorian, older sister to Aaranj. Lost her biological family to the kett, but was raised by a Mandalorian colonists on Kadara. Sees Kar as an older auntie figure. She’s more short tempered, impulsive, and trigger-happy than her brother. Before joining their aunt on Pandora, Anjma cut her teeth on Outlaws, kett, and Roekaar in the wilds of Kadara. He presence is great for the city and outlying settlements, but bad for the Bandit clans. Served under Skip fighting the CoV– a job she relished. Isn’t as particularly social like her brother, but the people are grateful for her work.
Murz Hagdah: Batarian engineer; genius with anything running with an eezo core, maintains the few Kodiak shuttles Kar managed to transport over. Shares duties with Roowarrk, but doesn’t always let him gets his way despite being aware of a Wookiee’s arm-ripping abilities. Has an interest in Hyperspace theory, and enjoys the times when he and Kar can talk shop– when they get a moment from keeping the city running to do so. Comes off as gruff, but really a frank sort of being who doesn’t like wasting his time.
Nazar vas Pandora nar Rannoch: Formerly a geth agricultural unit, Nazar is one of the few geth that survive the Catalyst by virtue of having being uploaded into a quarian envirosuit as a way to adapt them to their return to Rannoch. Nazar lived as from envirosuit to envirosuit for some time before a suitable and working geth platform could be found and made. Nazar serves as her Requisitions Officer in the newly reclaimed Opportunity. After centuries of hopping from quarian to quarian, he honors his creators and their complicated history by using their naming conventions– and personality wise is very quarian in some regard. He now serves Opportunity as its Head of Requisitions and makes sure that the people are fed, the defense force is supplied, and the Market is running smoothly. He is sometimes found with Uma in the Market. Is sometimes at odds with the belligerent HK, but is very friendly with most other synthetics. In like thieves with Beedee and Artie, though. Paints in his free time– some of which have attracted the notice of offworlders. As a fully fledged sentient but synthetic being, he tries not to take it personally when colonists regard him like a bot or droid– even if it does still sting. The people of Opportunity do try to treat him with dignity and respect, and even friendship– far from the way geth have been treated centuries before.
Neeza Iro: A female Kadas'sa'Nikto, and responsible for the Spaceport. Neeza is descended from refugees that settled Tanalorr, and spent her youth navigating the Abyss. Bright, cheery, an sometimes takes things literally, she is grateful for the chance to see so many new cultures and the wider universe here on Opportunity. As a skilled pilot, she can fly and fix nearly any ship, though at some point she’d like to test her mettle against the Scourge in Andromeda.
Paxis “Pax” Vakarian: Turian agent; of Kar’s Network. Palaven born, though didn’t fit much into the hierarchy and wound up on Omega before being recruited into the Void Network. A very distant relation to Garrus. Pax was one of Kar’s people to be deployed to Promethea during the Maliwan invasion to help, and tends to bounce around as Kar gives her missions. Similar to Skip, she’s more a free spirit in turian terms and enjoys planet hopping, seeing new sites, avoid gunfire from new threats, et cetera.
Roowarrk: Wookiee engineer; keeps the lights on and power running, and sometimes even works on the walkers with Riya. Shares duties with Murz. Grudgingly accepts that sometimes Murz is right. Gets time off to return to Kashyyyk for Life Day. Roowark’s parents were liberated during the Imperial control of Kashyyyk, and were freedom fighters (and friends) with Kar. She’s a been a bit of mentor figure, and he wanted to help out his family friend.
Tobo, Grega, Shovu, & Bob: The Quartet of Anzellians that work under Roowarrk and Murz. Are they siblings? Friends? Who knows. Fantastic with anything with wires and electricity: Ships, droids, bots, repurposed Hyperion tech? No problem for them. Few can understand their basic, but they’re nice enough folks, if a bit strange. Sometimes their size leads them to be repetitively unnoticed. Almost deconstructed Claptrap after giving them some choice words, thankfully Roowarrk put the kibosh to that. Really fond of Ellie, in an ironic twist. Outside of Kar, no one can ever really tell who’s who, not that they mind too much. They thrive on being the weirdos of the colony. Have been on occasion nearly hunted by Talon, leading many awkward moments between the Raiders and the Anzellians.
Tychus Spiro: A turian guardsman serving under Skip and Riya. Tychus’ story is a complex one. Born on Omega out in the Terminus, he wound up involving himself with the Blue Suns. When the heat with the Suns got too hot, he joined the Andromeda initiative. As a later wave colonist, Tychus was only recently taken out of cryo in the last few years and served a few tours in APEX handling kett and outlaws before joining Kar in Opportunity.
Dr. Uma Se: Kaminoan doctor, part of Aelon’s hand-picked medical team. She lacks her people’s eugenicist beliefs, and is a little “subversive” by Kaminoan standards for openly embracing other’s cultures. She started working in a clinic in Coruscant’s lower levels, found her way to Omega under Dr. Rannahe, and followed her when Kar offered them a place on Opportunity. While older than the salarian she does treat her more as a mentor figure. If not in the clinic, she enjoys walks in the Waterfront district, and occasionally being-watches in the Markets. She is kind, if a bit socially awkward.
Urdnot Vaulk: Krogan warrior born at the end of the Krogan Rebellions. Known Kar since her arrival on Omega in the 2180s. Helped Wrex in his vision to revive Tuchanka in the years after the genophage was cured. Survived the Reapers, and everything else that came his way in the last 600-odd years. Came to Pandora “for a challenge”, but really he (and Wrex) were a tad bit concerned about Kar’s mental state after her time on Helios and was asked to “look out for her”. Isn’t particularly impressed with what the planet’s tossed at him at first, and hopes he survives long enough to se the vault re-open in 200 years. Even if the planet hasn’t brought that much of a challenge, he respects the local folk for toughing it out. Does pitch in and works some guard shifts, but more often is found protecting the younglings.
