I am Karolina Konicka, a fifth-year student of Puppet Theatre Acting at the Aleksander Zelwerowicz Academy of Theatre in Warsaw. I also completed my first year at the Acting School in Olsztyn.
Acting is my greatest passion, and I find immense joy in the process of exploration. I thrive on the constant search for new forms and challenges. It is this journey of discovery that excites me most—whether through experimenting with different techniques or diving deep into the nuances of a character. I am an individual full of ideas and always eager to solve creative problems.
In addition to acting, I am also deeply passionate about mathematics, which I teach with dedication. Climbing, particularly via ferratas, is another activity I enjoy, embracing the physical challenge and the connection with nature.
In my film work, I am particularly drawn to war roles, as they offer a unique opportunity to explore the complexities of human emotion and survival.
Below, you will find the results of my work in theatre and film.
Prymicje is a puppet monodrama created based on a story I overheard. The performance was developed during my third year of studies in the course Theatre of Animated Forms. As the only student in my school, I collaborated with an external creator who wrote the script based on the story I shared with them.
The performance has received several accolades, including the 2nd Prize at FETA - the Festival of Evident Acting Talents, and the Individual Acting Award at the Wiosna w Teatrze Festival.
Miłosna 302/2 is an immersive performance created during the second semester of my third year, in collaboration with my colleague Marina Bazdyrieva. It is something new at our academy, offering an innovative approach to theatre. The performance is designed for an intimate audience of eight people, where the viewers actively participate in the unfolding story.
The show has been presented at two prestigious international puppet theatre festivals: LALKANIELALKA and METAFORMY.
Uncertainty is an etude created during my second year as part of the course Contemporary Puppetry Techniques. The starting point for this piece was a focus on body work. I aimed to create a character using only my back, replicating the precise movements of a human being while moving solely with my back. This etude was selected and presented at the Die-Wo-Spielen festival in Stuttgart.
The demo reel was created from films in which I have appeared, including Tryptyk Wojenny. Część II. Berta (directed by Maria Molenda, short film), Portret Polaka. Film o Bolesławie Barbackim (directed by Barbara Szewczyk, documentary film), and Pod wspólnym Niebem (directed by Łukasz Fijał, performance).
Pupile is my diploma performance, which focuses on physical acting. It does not feature puppets. The character I embodied was a cat. The director of the performance is Łukasz Kos.
Cabaret.Berlin 1930 is a musical performance directed by Paweł Aigner. The choreography was created by Karolina Garbacik, and the music was composed by Piotr Klimek. The show combines dynamic movement, song, and ensemble work. It was an important part of my artistic development, allowing me to explore the genre of musical theatre in depth.
"If You Ever Need My Life, Come and Take It" is a one-hour adaptation of The Seagull by Anton Chekhov, directed by Wojciech Leśniewski. I played the role of Arkadina. The title is a translated fragment from the original play.
