I have a foreground service that runs on my phone(Android 7.0) but it doesn't run on a friends phone(Android 8.0).I also test it on android studio emulators and i have the same problem on version 8.0.I've implemented the if-else check to see if it's Android 8.0 so i can call startForegroundService() and still nothing.

I discovered that we can run forground service without showing notification for android oreo and above, here is the solution first create notification with notification Channel also set channel id for notifications then start forground service with notification. now it's time to cancel notification Channel with id after 1 or 2 second that's means the notification will remove and the service will run alwayes . that's all

I am also experiencing the same issue and i am stuck with this issue from 2 months. I have already given permission for WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE in the manifest first and also again checking is it have write permission. I think it is not a permission issue. Because when i test with oreo the folder is creating and there is a corrupted image file in the folder i am creating. Because of that it is not coming to the gallery and then on save it returns me Image not captured. I am getting this problem only in android 7.1.1 and oreo. Upto android 7.0 it is working fine. I have checked with devices samsung galaxy note 8 and google pixel xl 2. I am using a custom camera with with gps and below function

@Tomcat and @Virat18 - I've come across a solution to the fact that you can no longer register a Broadcast Receiver in your Manifest to receive the PROVIDERS_CHANGED action Intent-filter in Android-OREO..

The solution? Simply register your BroadcastReceiver dynamically (from within your code), instead of from the Manifest.. Also, instead of checking for the hard-coded regex android.location.PROVIDERS_CHANGED, you should use LocationManager.PROVIDERS_CHANGED_ACTION (and of course import the LocationManager).

Here is an example of the Code I used to get this to work! (ex: from a Button Click):

Mine was horrible toonafter oreo upgrade. Laggy, camera would take ages to load and i'd miss the shot, and slow, and battery lasting 6 hours rather than 2 days. I left it 2 weeks but couldn't deal with it anymore, so used flashtool to reflash it with 7 software. Phone now works perfectly again, camera quick to load, no problems, and I don't feel I'm missing anything, and battery life good again. I just have ro force stop the doftware upgrade app to avoid the annoying pop up every time i turn it on. Will wait a little longer for a few more updates i think!

After update to android 8.0.0 my WiFi connection is limited to download up to 80Mbit / s. On nugat -190Mbit/s. The upload drastically decreased. Other mobile devices on the router show speeds of up to 250mbit / s and there is no problem with that. The device was restarted, all applications were disabled, tested in safe mode many times.

Can you check the data speed limit on your oreo devices? and check if they reach more than 80/100mbit/s?

The emulator for PC's was related to daemon, which was a thing in Android Studio

and

The android version that was 8.0 (Android Oreo) as it seems when you look into the folders... It was 2.1 (Android Eclair) which is WAY, WAY OLDER than 8.0! I would also like that to be fixed as I don't have enough space to install Android Studio and steal those files and move them over there to test on a higher API level device.

Android Oreo is also focused on smart battery performance, boot up time and better stability which will give better visibility to android app developers to make the better health of their apps in android Oreo. It also added some feature which will help in building more efficient apps with Android developers, which are:- ff782bc1db
