Current and former coaches from throughout the state served as the "selection committee"; each was tasked with picking their 45 favorite helmets. The seedings for the bracket are based upon selection committee votes first, then randomly assigned if there was a tie. (For example, all members selected Lawrence, so they are a #1 seed. Several schools each received the same number of votes, so their seeds were randomly assigned.)
