The Eina jarn is a powerful nation with technology and infrastructure almost unparalleled by the rest of the Local Systems. They have control over a large Giin city, as well as Hanwen, Larmwa, parts of Arem, and the Eina yerda star, around which they have built a dyson sphere containing solar panels, habitats, and temples.
The majority of Eina jarn inhabitants are Azi lana; however, they are not like the Azi lana of other nations. As well as many once-organisms who now live as artificial people, there are also several new groups of Azi lana who have been genetically altered so heavily that they can’t reproduce with Xenosapiens alana, and thus may constitute a new species. These groups have been created to live in places that can’t easily be tweaked to sustain normal lifeforms, like zero gravity environments.
The Eina jarn pride themselves on their art, architecture, and fashion. It is not traditional in design, but it is still elaborate and colourful. Designer children- people genetically modified before birth to look beautiful- are legal here, and are rather common.
The Eina jarn is an incredibly powerful nation in the Local Systems. This power comes from its control over certain key resources, like metals, technologies, ice, and most importantly, energy. Metals and ice are mined from asteroids and planets, which this nation has an abundance of, thanks to their bargaining power.
The ability to bargain like this can then be traced to their most important asset- the Eina yerda star and it’s dyson sphere. Large amounts of energy are critical for the functioning of every modern civilisation, but are much harder to come by if you don’t have a dyson sphere- and so nations that do have this rare megastructure can effectively strongarm those who don’t.
The Eina jarn’s population centres are spread out all over the Ewi yerda system. Mostly for trade purposes, they own only one city on Gi, which also happens to be the only part of their empire with inhabitants other than Azi lana and AI. Their other territories are too hostile for most people to live, and those Azi lana who do live there are specifically genetically modified to fit their environment. These new species will eventually have their own dedicated article, but I will also briefly go over them here.
Living on the low-gravity terraformed moon Hanwen are a tall, lanky species known as glewens. These folk have a wing-like membrane which allows them to glide, facilitating the development of extremely tall cities. Since the moon is terraformed, it is covered in lush ecosystems, and despite the low gravity, glewens do not live life any differently from other societies.
On the high-gravity super-earth Larmwa live the stout, eight-limbed engwells. Since their planet is not terraformed and has no oxygen in its atmosphere, the relatively small number of engwells live life in underground, bunker-like cities. Despite their unusual environment, engwells still go about day-to-day life as any other society would.
The final place the Eina jarn call home is their own dyson sphere. In amongst the multitudes of solar panels orbit a lattice of server rooms and zero-gravity habitats; these buildings are home to a small number of arjenjaals, a species of Azi lana responsible for upkeep of the entire structure and worship of their god, the star. Their bodies are no smaller than that of other Azi lana species, but still appear small compared to their long, spindly limbs, which push and pull them through the hallways of the megastructure.
Arjenjaals do not live ordinary lives- cut off from society in their stellar monastery, they are to dedicate themselves entirely to repair of the massive structure; like mechanic monks, orbiting their cosmic god.
The several parts of the Eina jarn are split by the vast distances of space. Many such nations are somewhat politically unstable; however, the Eina jarn’s form of government mitigates this somewhat.
Like the Martian Union, the Eina jarn is ruled over by a collective government. This form of government is, most simply, a hive-mind intelligence made up of memories uploaded by its own citizens. The intelligence governing the Eina jarn is known as Eiiyarn.
When a citizen of the Eina jarn is nearing death, their entire mind is uploaded into the Eiiyarn network. This process is compulsory, and is sometimes prioritised over the recovery of the dying patient.
The mind is immediately assimilated into Eiiyarn, who analyses the provided information for flaws in their own nation. If the hive-mind recognises a problem in the system, they may change their policies to solve it.
Unlike some other collective governments, such as Mars’ Erdweith, Eiiyarn can be considered sentient. While Erdweith does not recognise itself as a being, nor contemplate its own existence, Eiiyarn readily ponders their place in the game of life; they have a will, and an ego.
As well as making laws, Eiiyarn is responsible for matters such as designing and creating infrastructure, and automating production of food and other such necessities.
Their giant computer brain is stored in orbit around the Eina yerda star, and tended to by Arjenjaals. This location means they can be easily powered by energy from the dyson sphere, and are in such a stable orbit that nothing short of destroying the star itself would rid of their entire brain at once.
However, certain problems also come with this; solar storms must be closely monitored to prevent electronic disturbance, and the star’s immense heat makes keeping the computers cool relatively difficult.
