This policy explains what information Kalma: 6 Kalmas of Islam (the "App") collects, why, and what choices you have. The App is published on Google Play by ByteCode tech ("we", "us").
Most of the App works entirely on your device. No account is required.
The following is stored only on your phone and is never sent to us:
Settings such as language, theme, font size and audio preferences.
Your prayer tracker, Qaza records, Quran reading progress, bookmarks, Hifz reviews, Khatam plans and tasbeeh counts.
Location. If you allow location access, it is used on your device to calculate prayer times and the Qibla direction. Your coordinates are saved on the device and are not sent to us or to any third party.
Uninstalling the App or clearing its data removes this information.
From version 6.3, the App uses Google Analytics for Firebase, provided by Google, to understand how the App is used and where to improve it. It collects:
App interactions: which screens are opened (for example "Quran reader" or "Tasbeeh"), whether onboarding was completed, and when recitation audio starts and finishes (Kalma or Quran).
App language you selected (English, Urdu or Arabic).
An app-instance identifier that Firebase generates for this installation of the App.
Approximate location (country or city level), which Google derives from your IP address. Your precise location is never sent.
Standard device and app information such as device model, operating system version, app version and session times.
We do not send to analytics: your name, anything you type, which surah or ayah you read, community share codes, prayer records, or your precise location. The App does not collect the Android Advertising ID, and ad personalization is disabled. Analytics is not used for advertising and the App does not show ads.
Data is encrypted in transit. Google processes it on our behalf under the Google Analytics Terms and the Google Privacy Policy. See how Google uses information from apps that use its services.
Quran Khawani and Shared Tasbeeh Target let you create or join a group activity. Only if you use these features, the App sends the following to our server (kalma.zameenyaar.com):
The display name you choose.
A random device identifier generated by the App (not your phone's hardware ID), used to recognise your device in groups you have joined.
What you enter when creating a group, such as its title, dedication, note or dhikr text.
Your activity in the group, such as the Quran parts you claim or complete and the tasbeeh counts you contribute.
Other members of a group can see your display name, the group details and your contributions. Anyone with a group's share code can join and see it, so share codes only with people you trust. This data is sent over HTTPS and is used only to run these features. We do not sell it.
Kalma Supporter is an optional monthly subscription. Nothing in the App requires it. Payment is handled entirely by Google Play; we never see your card or payment details.
If you subscribe, the App sends your Google Play purchase token and the random device identifier described above to our server. The server checks the token with Google Play to confirm the subscription and when it renews or ends. We keep the subscription status, its start and renewal dates, and the token.
You can also choose a supporter name to show on our website (kalma.zameenyaar.com). This is off by default. If you turn it on, the name you enter is shown publicly while your subscription is active, and is removed from the page when it ends. You can change the name or hide it at any time under Learn > Support Kalma.
When you stream or download Quran recitations or Quran page fonts, the App requests these files from their hosts (cdn.islamic.network and github.com). As with any internet request, these hosts receive your IP address. No other information about you is sent.
The App uses Google Play to offer in-app updates, the in-app review prompt and the optional supporter subscription. Google may process information as described in the Google Privacy Policy.
We do not sell your data. We do not share it with third parties, except with service providers that process it for us (Google, for analytics) and as required by law.
On-device data: deleted when you clear the App's data or uninstall it.
Analytics data: kept by Google Analytics under our property's retention setting, then deleted automatically.
Community data: kept while the group exists. To delete your display name, device record and contributions, email us at the address below and include your display name. We will act on the request within 30 days.
Supporter data: kept while you are subscribed and for up to 12 months after it ends, for accounting. Your public name is removed from the website as soon as the subscription ends. Email us to have it deleted sooner. Cancelling is done in Google Play.
The App is educational and is often used by families. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. The community features ask for a display name. Children should use them only with a parent's help. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
Data sent by the App is encrypted in transit using HTTPS/TLS. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect the information we hold.
When this policy changes, we will update this page and the effective date above.
