Tried to install on kali linux 20.02, it works mostly if you add som packages by yourselves. What finally breaks it is when you run the ctxinstall.sh and it tries to install winbind and so on. Anyone got it to work on kali linux if so which version?

Kali Linux Download Get Into Pc

I wanted to try and give Kali linux a shot installed to bare metal on my Framework but ran into a problem right after making the USB media. Both with the just the installer image and live image when I go to boot from the USB on my laptop it goes directly to a blank grub screen exactly as described in these other two examples:

All of these options require some amount of trust in Heroku. The first two pull a script down from the Internet and pipe it into sh, which always makes me a bit uneasy. I suspect they both request elevated privileges during the install process. Instead of piping the file directly in to sh as Heroku recommends, I suggest you download it and at least give it a quick read through the first time.

If the above answers were not working for you then i think when you are installing kali linux you should connect to internet (over wifi or ethernet) for me when i was installing kali 2020.1 in my pc most of the features of 202.1 versions were not showing up, at the select and install software section it was showing only some features then i had tried a lot of solutions but didnt work... then i installed kali having connected with internet and it worked. May be these sound silly but it worked, may be without internet connection it just installed the terminal mode (tty1)

I made sure I have no mistake in the syntax by copying the line export PATH=$PATH:~/autopsy-4.14.0/bin from .bashrc and pasting it into a shell. If I do that I can invoke autopsy by just typing the name. So that works in the shell.

You don't have a secure route when working remotely? That may be something you want to look into when pitching this to your stakeholders. I use a VPN of course. What I'm saying is if the laptop isn't connected to the network at all times I'd need to ring one of my colleagues up to have them connect the laptop to the network if I needed to use it. It seems like the consensus so far though is to not leave the laptop connected to the network at all times. I am not totally convinced of that at this point. If the right precautions are taken as I have outlined the risk is low as I see it. The biggest risk I see is an authorized user doing something stupid. That's hard to mitigate. But this is why I'm throwing the question out there. I could be missing something here.

Fair enough... but perhaps taking a look at some network isolation is worth it for when that 24/7 connected laptop is idle. Can you terminal into your layer 2 device to bring a vlan up for testing or down for storage example? Then you're never calling your colleagues to connect the cable... just accessing the switch.

One final thought jumped in my head when I mentioned "network". My colleagues and I find the Network Manager Debian ships to be painful. In all of our Kali instances, the first thing we've done is uninstall and purge network-manager. We then add our NICs to /etc/network/interfaces and /run/network/ifstate. When running Kali, we manipulate addresses as needed from the command line and bring up NICs with ifup or ifdown. It takes less than 2 seconds to configure the box and don't run into any of the profile contention problems one can see when using the GUI to manage the network.

Thanks for the reply.Live boot in kali linux is just one great option and it has nothing to do with the primary usage of kali and kali is based on debian.

I thought of using joplin in kali cause of my HTB(Hack the Box) Writeups.

dantor@kali:~$ ./Joplin-1.0.179.AppImage

[10497:0312/200857.826042:FATAL:setuid_sandbox_host.cc(157)] The SUID sandbox helper binary was found, but is not configured correctly. Rather than run without sandboxing I'm aborting now. You need to make sure that /tmp/.mount_Jopline0AIxA/chrome-sandbox is owned by root and has mode 4755.

I am going to order one of these ASAP so if I make my own custom image for your board and I get it going with no issues, would it be alright if I posted it here? The Git address? For the people who might just want to grab the image and flash it? As this was the first google link when I typed Kali and Libre ROC into Google? Again a sincere thank you to your entire team at Libre.

I am running into a bizarre problem when creating a Kali Linux Virtual Machine in Azure. Whenever I create a Kali VM it is always barren, with none of the tools or software needed to perform pentesting. I've tried deleting the VM and creating a new one but they always seem to have the same issue.
