I am an agricultural economist specializing in agricultural and food policy issues in the Global South. My research spans three areas.
Gender-based gaps and inclusion in agriculture. I examine how household decision-making and gender-based inequities in agriculture influence production decisions, household welfare, and women’s voice and agency.
Mechanization and technology adoption. I study how smallholder farmers can access and benefit from new agricultural technologies and mechanization services.
Environment and agriculture. I investigate issues addressing environmental challenges within agricultural systems, such as crop residue burning.
Currently, I am engaged in projects in Bangladesh, Senegal, and India. I hold a Ph.D. from UC Davis, a Masters from Cornell University, and a B.A. from Soka University of America. I grew up in New Delhi, India.
