In the early 1970s, Mioka was found by chance on the street, unable to remember her own name. As time passed, Mioka traveled to Korea multiple times in search of her birth family. Each time, however, she returned with manipulated documents and concealed records. What is the truth behind the K-Number, and what secrets lie hidden within the missing documents?

개별 입양기관은 아동을 해외로 입양 보내기 위한 숫자 분류 체계를 만들었고 그 중 다수의 아동들이 ‘K-‘에 번호가 붙여진 채로 해외로 보내졌다. 한국의 입양기관은 전 세계에서 유일하게, 아동을 양부모 국가로 배달해주는 ‘우편입양’ 서비스를 제공하는 대신, 양부모에게 막대한 수수료를 요구했다. 입양기관은 더 많은 아동을 입양보내기 위해 아동의 출신서류를 위조하는 일도 서슴지 않았고, 입양 아동을 확보하기 위해 고아원(보육원)이나 아동임시보호소, 산부인과를 비롯한 미혼모 시설까지 손을 뻗쳤다.

  해외로 입양 간 아동은 성인이 되어 한국으로 돌아온다.  돌아온 해외입양인은 자신이 가진 서류의 기록이 틀리다는 걸 알고 입양기관에 원본서류를 요청하지만, 입양기관은 알 수 없는 이유로 원본서류를 감춘다. 한국정부는 여전히 무책임하게 방임한다. 마치 해외입양인이 돌아올 줄 몰랐다는 듯이. 

Individual adoption agencies established a numerical classification system for sending children abroad for adoption, and many of these children were assigned numbers prefixed with "K-" before being sent overseas. Korea was the only country in the world that allowed a system called ‘proxy adoption,’ where people could adopt a child without visiting Korea to see the child. In return, adoption agencies demanded exorbitant fees from adoptive parents. 

  Children who were adopted abroad are returning to Korea as adults. They realize that their adoption documents are incorrect and ask the adoption agencies for the original documents, but the agencies hide them for unknown reasons. The Korean government remains irresponsible as if they didn't expect the adoptee to return.
