As I progress in my practicum, I’ve noticed a shift in my mindset from advocating for student learning to advocating for teacher growth. Establishing trust and collaboration is pivotal in this process, ensuring that teachers feel supported as they integrate new technology into their daily procedures.
For example, I recently designed a technology-based assignment to end a unit with my students using a self-assessment via Google Forms to help them evaluate their work. While analyzing their responses, I began to consider how a self-assessment could also benefit teachers. What technology tools or skills might teachers need support with, and how could a self-assessment tool help identify and address those needs coherently?
By implementing effective, sustainable, and purposeful change in technology usage, I aim to provide teachers with the tools necessary to thrive in a highly digital age. Through these endeavors, I hope to advocate and foster collaboration among educators, ensuring that technology is not a fool's errand but a shared and organized initiative.
I could improve my leadership by gaining a deeper understanding of my campus's technology infrastructure, as identified in the Office of Educational Technology Survey. For example, I can ensure technological consistency while exploring the hardware and software available within the district.
To enhance this effort, building relationships with technology personnel can assist with making enhancements or updates to optimize their use. Collaborating with technology personnel will help me analyze current systems and how they can be enhanced for effective usage.
A strength of my leadership style is collaborative leadership. By fostering a culture of trust and empowerment with my colleagues, we can develop a coherent and sustainable plan for progress within the organization. This is achieved by providing meaningful learning experiences, and equitable access to sustainable resources that drive innovation and growth.
As a technology leader, my primary purpose is to ensure the consistency and support needed to prepare learners for success in a highly digital age. This mission begins with establishing trust and collaboration as the foundation for new heights of innovation. By demonstrating leadership consistency, empathy, and accountability, I cultivate a workplace culture that thrives on strong relationships, effective communication, and meaningful progress.
Progress is a continuous cycle of change. Our adaptability, and choice to progress as a corporation can deeply impact the sustainability of technology usage. By providing a bedrock of trust, collaboration, and empathy, we create a baseline for purposeful progress to pioneer future endeavors.
With collaboration and trust as our foundation, we continue scaling the ever-changing mountain of a highly-technological world, reaching new heights, and seeing the progress and innovation we have achieved along the way. Embracing change with a forward-thinking focus on lasting impact can ensure that technology remains a powerful tool for progress, innovation, and long-term success.
