The Role of a Technology Facilitator
According to The Innovator's Mindset, Couros (2015) states that innovation is “a way of thinking that creates something new and better” (p. 19). In many ways, innovation is a risk. It wills itself to question the status quo and to do things differently. In the educational setting, innovation is oftentimes hearing the voices of students and driving progress to answer their call.
Innovation is not a meaningless initiative, but moving forward with purpose. Despite the innovative appearance of some changes, “Different for the sake of different can be a waste of time and may even leave us worse off than where we started” (Couros, 2015, p. 26). Innovation is not reinventing the wheel, but questioning how we use it.
With this in mind, the role of a technology facilitator is a leader who creates and sustains technology systems to support a given work environment and its' employees. It’s not only about creating innovative changes but encouraging innovation within the workplace to make meaningful progress. My picture, provided by DeepAI, encompasses the impact of an innovative mindset. Innovation is not facilitated solely in the hands of one, but in the collaboration of many.
