Blended learning is an instructional approach that combines traditional in-person teaching with online learning, allowing students control over the time, pace, and place of their learning. Blended learning originates from the belief that learning is not fulfilled from just one interaction, but is an ongoing cycle (Shivam & Singh, 2015, p. 369).
Blended learning is especially relevant in today’s world, where technology plays a crucial role in education and work.
Blended Learning provides individualized learning experiences, helping students work on areas they need to improve while progressing at their own pace. Episode 25 of LeadUpTeach explores the power of blended technology, making great teachers better by supporting blended learning strategies that drive meaningful student progress.
During my practicum experience, I witnessed a teacher utilize ClassDojo as an effective method to engage in quizzes or games that reinforce language concepts and grant rewards for participation and good behavior.
Using gamification concepts in blended learning makes learning fun and motivating. Students can track their progress and earn classroom rewards based on a point system.
