šš» Hi, Iām Jeongyoun Kwon (ź¶ģ ģ°).Ā Ā
Pronouns: she/her
I aspire to become a researcher exploring the NLP applicationsā all toward developing AI systems that are human-aligned, socially beneficial, and capable of collaboration with people.Ā
My goal is to leverage the knowledge Iāve gained to make meaningful contributions to the world through technology. I also have a strong interest in humanity, which is reflected in most of my projects and extracurricular activities.Ā
Thank you for taking the time to visit!

Hearing-impaired parents face unique challenges in caring for their infantsāespecially when it comes to recognizing and understanding why their baby is crying. They may not even realize the baby is crying, let alone determine the cause, such as hunger, tiredness, discomfort, or pain.
To address this, our project developed a system that:
Detects whether the baby is crying in real-time
Classifies the cry based on the underlying cause
Sends notifications to the parents to help them respond appropriately.
As the team leader, I was responsible for the entire development processāfrom ideation and data processing to model training and interface design.Ā
I led team coordination, defined milestones, and ensured we met deadlines.
Thanks to our team's hard work and my leadership, we proudly won the grand prize for this project.

#VisuallyImpairedSupport #NaturalLanguageProcessingĀ
Visually impaired users rely on Braille to access written information, but standard literary Braille lacks support for complex mathematical notation. Nemeth Braille was specifically developed for this purpose ; however, switching between Nemeth and standard Braille in mixed-content texts presents a significant accessibility challenge.
Ā This project addresses that issue by:
Detecting mathematical expressions in spoken input
Translating mathematical content into Nemeth Braille, while rendering non-mathematical content in standard literary Braille
Ensuring a seamless transition between the two formats for clarity and usability
Ā The ultimate goal is to empower visually impaired students and professionals to read both mathematical and general content in a unified and accessible Braille format.

engaged in the study of converting voices into Nemeth and braille
engaged in the paper for converting Latex Formula into spoken math
engaged in the paper for analyzing transformer decoder architecture
2023.03~2023.12 Committee Member
Data Analysis Association Dart-B, Chung-Ang University
https://www.instagram.com/dart_b_official/
Ā As an active member of the operations team, I played a key role in organizing and leading our regular data analysis workshops. I created learning materials, and gave hands-on lessons covering statistical concepts and tools.
2022.09 ~ 2023.09Ā Student Advisor
Office of International Affairs, Chung-Ang University
I communicated directly with coordinators from over 20 partner universities, handling all online correspondence for a short-term exchange program.
Ā I was also responsible for overseeing and supporting approximately 100 international students, assisting with orientation, daily logistics, and overall program coordination. Through this role, I helped ensure a smooth and welcoming experience for students from diverse cultural backgrounds.
2022.01 ~ 2023.01 Online Mentor
EBS ( Korean Education Broadcasting System )
I dedicated over 80 hours to mentoring high school students who were struggling with English, Math, and career planning.
Beyond academic tutoring, I focused on building studentsā confidence, helping them set achievable goals, and offering personalized guidance tailored to their individual needs. By fostering a supportive learning environment, I was able to make a meaningful impact on both their academic performance and their outlook on future possibilities.
Despite majoring in Media & Communication and Technology Art, Iāve never let disciplinary boundaries limit my growth. Instead, Iāve consistently stepped out of my comfort zone to explore new academic and technical fieldsādriven purely by curiosity and passion.Ā
Language & Culture
Wanting to understand French media and culture more deeply, I voluntarily enrolled in French major courses outside of my curriculum.
AI
I took multiple AI courses, even though they werenāt part of my original degree pathābecause I was deeply fascinated by the concept of artificial intelligence itself. The idea that machines could ālearnā and make decisions on their own felt almost magical to me. That curiosity led me to enroll in multiple AI courses, simply because I wanted to understand how it all works.
Technical Skills I Taught Myself
I independently studied a wide range of tools and concepts, including:
Natural Language Processing ā To understand and model how language works
Multi-Agent Systems ā To design interactions between intelligent agents
Reinforcement Learning ā To explore how AI can learn through trial and error
Federated Learning - To explore how collaborative learning can be achieved without centralizing dataĀ
You can see my learning Journey on my Velog.Ā
This journey is far from overābut what drives me is clear: a genuine love for learning, and a refusal to be limited by whatās expected from my major.
