Yeast Synthetic Biology & Metabolic Engineering Lab 

The Ju Young Lee Laboratory (JYLab, also known as Juyoung's Yeast Laboratory) focuses on the engineering yeast cells using organelles as a means of controlling cell functions and introducing new functionality. With a dedicated emphasis on yeast synthetic biology and metabolic engineering, our goal is to reshape cellular activities and metabolic pathways, resulting in yeast cells possessing innovative biological traits. This endeavor involves the development of robust artificial chassis yeast capable of providing advanced physiology and novel synthetic functions, thereby enabling a wider range of highly specific tasks. Through our research, we aim not only to deepen our comprehension of cellular mechanisms but also to broaden the functional spectrum of natural living systems towards more cutting-edge and real-world applications.
