Hi, I’m Jongwon.

Welcome to my personal page.

I am an Assistant Professor of Accounting at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU). Prior to joining PolyU, I held an academic position at Monash University, Australia (2017 - 2022).

My research examines how organizations use information from accounting systems to design more effective executive compensation contracts. In particular, I focus on how performance targets are set and how they shape incentives, as well as the role of performance metrics in compensation contracts. I also study how various stakeholders influence corporate decisions and shape outcomes in capital markets. 

Outside of research, I enjoy travelling and exploring new places. Living in Melbourne for several years gave me a lasting craving for good coffee, especially a well-made flat white, and I love discovering great cafés. I also enjoy meeting people from different backgrounds and learning about new cultures.
