How We Research
We compare products from their published specs and features; the verdicts below are our independent editorial opinions.
If you want a no-frills wired earbud that puts bass, fit and a spare-tip kit first, choose JVC Gumy; if you need two pairs with an inline microphone and volume buttons for calls and device-hopping, choose iKeloah 2.
• JVC Gumy — biggest strength: silicone ear tips in three sizes (S/M/L) included in the box, so you can actually dial in the seal that gives you the deep bass and clean treble JVC claims.
• JVC Gumy — biggest trade-off: it's sold as a single pair with "No Mic" as the style name, so there's no inline microphone or remote for taking calls.
• iKeloah 2 — biggest strength: you get two pairs in one box, each with a built-in HD microphone and push-button volume/media control — handy if you take calls or want a backup set.
• iKeloah 2 — biggest trade-off: no included ear-tip size options are listed, so you're working with whatever fit the buds come with.
• Pick JVC Gumy if you mainly listen to music and care about fit and bass.
• Pick iKeloah 2 if you juggle calls, volume control and more than one device or person.
The Gumy is the classic "just plug it in and go" earbud. JVC lists a dynamic driver covering 20 Hz to 20,000 Hz, 16 ohm impedance, 100 dB sensitivity and a 3.5 mm wired jack. Those are ordinary, sensible numbers for a wired in-ear — the kind that play loud off a phone or laptop without needing an amp. The pitch here is sound first: deep bass and clean treble, with the fit doing the heavy lifting.
And fit is genuinely the story. JVC ships small, medium and large silicone tips with every pair, so if the stock tip doesn't seal, you swap it rather than live with it. The earpiece is round, the enclosure is silicone, and the theme is sports and exercise — the soft, color-matched red tips and light 1.12-ounce build suggest something you can jog or commute with and forget about. Noise control is listed as sound isolation, which is exactly what a good in-ear seal gives you passively.
iKeloah 2: Who It's For
The iKeloah 2 is the practical multi-pack. You get two pairs of white wired earbuds, each with a 3.5 mm plug, a built-in microphone and push-button volume/media control. That combination — mic plus inline buttons — is the whole reason to pick these over the Gumy. You can answer and reject calls, pause and skip tracks, and nudge the volume without touching your phone.
The compatibility list is broad and spelled out: iPhones, iPads, iPod, Android phones, laptops, PCs, gaming consoles, MP3/MP4 players — anything with a 3.5 mm port. Note the plug is the standard 3.5 mm jack, so newer phones without a headphone port will need an adapter. The connector is metal-plated to reduce poor contact, and iKeloah says there's a built-in DAC chip to keep audio clean with no buzzing or popping. The cable is TPE with an oxygen-free copper core, which the brand ties to better conductivity and less signal distortion.
Fit-wise, you get an ergonomic in-ear shape with passive noise isolation, and the cable's flexible build makes it easy to coil up and carry. The driver is a dynamic unit with the same 20 Hz–20,000 Hz range and 16 ohm impedance as the Gumy. Who should buy it? Anyone who lives on calls, wants a pair in the car and a pair at the desk, or is buying for a household where two people need earbuds. Who should skip it? If you specifically want tip-size options or a bass-forward music-first bud, the Gumy is the better match — iKeloah's listing doesn't offer alternate tips, and its focus is clearly the mic-and-controls package rather than tuning the seal.
• Best for taking calls → iKeloah 2. Built-in HD microphone and answer/reject controls; the Gumy has no mic at all.
• Best for on-cable volume control → iKeloah 2. Push-button volume and media control versus the Gumy's remote-style media control.
• Best for fit customization → JVC Gumy. Three tip sizes (S/M/L) included; iKeloah lists no alternate tips.
• Best for getting two pairs → iKeloah 2. Sold as a 2-pack; the Gumy is a single pair.
• Best for a bass-and-seal music focus → JVC Gumy. JVC's whole pitch is deep bass, clean treble and a secure silicone fit.
• Best for device variety → iKeloah 2. Explicitly listed for iPhone, iPad, iPod, Android, laptop, PC, consoles and MP3/MP4 players.
• Best for sports and exercise → JVC Gumy. Its stated theme is sports and exercise with a light 1.12-ounce build.
• Best for a simple, single-purpose backup → JVC Gumy. One pair, no controls to think about, 1-year parts and labor warranty.
If I had to pick one, I'd take the iKeloah 2 for most people. Two pairs plus a microphone and volume buttons covers more of daily life — calls, commutes, a spare for the laptop bag — and the metal-plated 3.5 mm plug and DAC chip address the usual wired-earbud annoyances. That said, if music and fit are your priority and you never take calls from earbuds, the JVC Gumy is the smarter buy: the S/M/L tip kit is the feature I'd miss most. Buy the Gumy for sound and seal; buy the iKeloah 2 for talking, controlling and sharing.
JVC markets the Gumy around deep bass and clean treble, and the included S/M/L silicone tips let you get a proper seal — which is what actually produces bass in an in-ear. The iKeloah 2 uses a comparable dynamic driver with the same 20 Hz–20,000 Hz range, but its pitch is noise reduction and call clarity. For bass, I'd lean Gumy.
Does the iKeloah 2 have a microphone and volume control?
Yes. Every pair in the 2-pack has a built-in microphone plus push-button volume and media control, so you can take calls, change tracks and adjust volume from the cable. The JVC Gumy, by contrast, is listed with no mic.
Both use a standard 3.5 mm jack, so both work with anything that has that port. The iKeloah 2 explicitly names iPhone, iPad, iPod, Android phones, laptops, PCs, consoles and MP3/MP4 players — but remember that phones without a headphone jack need an adapter either way.
Only the JVC Gumy. It includes small, medium and large silicone tips in the box. The iKeloah 2 listing doesn't mention additional tip sizes, so treat the fit as fixed. If you know you need a different tip size, that alone can decide it.
Value depends on what you need. The iKeloah 2 gives you two pairs, a mic and volume control; the Gumy gives you one pair with a tip kit built for fit and bass. Check the current price on Amazon for both and match it against which of those bundles you'd actually use.
