Welcome to a Festival of Sustainable Clothing, Creativity + Community!

Just SUST Festival is a joyful, community-led, day-long celebration of understanding, making, mending, sharing and reimagining what we wear.

Held in the historic surroundings of Brimscombe Mill, our annual festival brings together people of all ages to discover that sustainable clothing isn't about giving things up. It's about gaining new skills, new friendships and a fresh appreciation for the clothes we already own.

Whether you come to watch a film, learn to weave or sew, browse our makers' market, cheer on the evening 'Runway of the Preloved' or simply to enjoy the atmosphere - you'll become part of a community that believes creativity is one of our greatest tools for caring for both people and planet.

This day is for everyone! FREE or accessible pricing to attend - come and meet the creatives - take part in the textile demos - there are events for all ages. Spray paint your own festival merch - bring a preloved plain garment. Book your clothes in for a mend, join film screenings/discussions + enjoy the Mill franchises which will be open all day.

The evening offers stylish reclaimed clothing design from the community Runway Show of the Preloved, plus pay-as-you can food, music & dance!

Why?

The fashion industry is one of the world's biggest contributors to carbon emissions and textile waste. But change doesn't begin in boardrooms alone. It begins around kitchen tables, sewing machines, repair cafés and community gatherings.

We are proud to be the Sustainable Fashion Week Hub for Stroud.

Just SUST celebrates the people already showing us another way:

A bit of revolution is part of Stroud's make up - so, a sassy, grass-roots, shake-up, indie event that brings community, connection, making, learning and creativity to the mix aligns us well with our town!

When & Where?

For our 2027 festival we have borrowed some of the spaces at Brimscombe Mill + its Sanctuary venue where our joint values collide within an old textile mill.

When we launched Just SUST in 2026, over 800 people joined us at Brimscombe Mill for a day of films, workshops, demonstrations, music and creativity.

What stayed with us most, however, was the feedback afterwards.

We heard from people who found comfort in creating a garment while grieving.

Students who rediscovered the joy of making after feeling overwhelmed by academic life.

People new to the Stroud area who found friendship and connection through our community runway show.

Those stories reminded us that Just SUST is about much more than sustainable clothing. It's about belonging, wellbeing and celebrating what we can create together.

The event is timed to coincide with Sustainable Fashion Week's Future Citizen campaign and is scheduled to best fit student schedules.

Plus, don't forget, the dark nights of winter are the perfect chance to make your refashioned outfit. So, get stitching, knitting, darning, dyeing, designing, swapping or simply restyling your finds in time to register for the show!

How to Join in?

Just SUST Festival belongs to everyone. Whether you're a maker, a student, a teacher, a volunteer, an ethical business, enjoying retirement or simply curious about sustainable clothing, we'd love you to be part of the festival.

Schools, colleges + Universities

We're particularly keen to welcome more schools, colleges and universities in 2027 as we launch Sustainable Fashion Week's #futurecitizen March campaign.

Whether you're studying art, textiles, fashion, design, sustainability or simply enjoy making, there are so many ways to get involved. Enter the Runway of the Preloved, exhibit work, volunteer, take part in workshops or collaborate on community making projects before the festival.

Teachers and tutors are warmly invited to bring groups, inspire new conversations around creativity and sustainability, or encourage students to develop work inspired by the festival.

Makers, community groups + organisations

If you're part of a sewing group, repair café, knitting circle, craft collective, community organisation or ethical business, we'd love to hear from you.

There are opportunities to run workshops, demonstrate traditional skills, exhibit your work, sponsor activities, volunteer or simply join the celebration and highlighting your organisation.
