Hey y'all. It’s Deborah back at it again with another interview! I’m here with Blessing, who is a sophomore at MVA, to help continue my interview series called, Searchin’ for the scoop w/ the Sophomores! She was all camera shy so we couldn’t have a video today, but maybe next time. Today’s questions are gonna get a little wild so get ready to laugh, I got up close and personal in her preferences and everything between!

Q: So to start off with would you rather date light skins or dark skins and why?

Blessing: I have my type, but I would date a dark-skinned person because that’s what I see and am surrounded with. Like my parents are dark skin, so.

As she should. I'm brown skin, so let me not.

Q: Which race would you date and why?

Blessing: I wouldn’t date someone because of their race, but because of their personality. However, I would date a black or more specifically a Ghanaian because like I said that’s what I’m surrounded with, as both of my parents are Ghanaian.

Period, we don't be dating races but personalities all 2020!

Q: Would you date a good boy or a hood boy?

Blessing: I’m kind of in the middle with this one, because I don’t want that is too good, but not too hood either. I’m leaning towards the hood side, but not too hood.

Q: Which race cheats more?

Blessing: I heard a lot of cheating happens with my people [Ghanaian], but I wouldn’t say one race cheats more than the other. It all depends on the person’s mentality and personality.

True, True.

Q: Imma switch it up on you, which grade cheats on assignments/tests more?

Blessing: I think that would be 10th and 11th grade, because when you’re a freshman, you are new to the school and don’t want to get in trouble so you abide by the rules. But when you’re in 10th and 11th grade you already use to the school and just do whatever you want.

Blessing exposing everyone in our grade today!

Q: What’s something you never told your parents?

Blessing: I don’t have any big secret, but I haven’t told my parents I stole from a store before.

Q: Finish the sentence, I hate boys that...

Blessing: I have a long list, but I’m just going to say a few. I hate boys that do the most, lie, treat women badly, have bad hygiene, have no respect for themselves, and take everything as a joke.

Boys, are you taking notes?

Q: Finish the sentence I hate girls that ...

Blessing: The same thing with the boys, but I hate girls that have bad hygiene, disrespect their bodies, and think it’s cute, treat men bad, be stingy and selfish.

Heavyy! Girls, are you taking notes?

Q: I hate when friends ...

Blessing: I hate when friends are jealous of you, always competing with you, let me people talk about you. And all these are red flags, so if you see this please let go of the friend. You shouldn’t allow toxic energy around you.

Yes, No toxic energy. We already have germs and covid we don't have toxic friends.

Q: I hate when teachers….

Blessing: I hate when teachers can’t teach and then blame it on the students. Saying stuff like ‘we’re not paying attention’ and teachers that spend too much time talking about their personal lives. It’s okay when you rarely do it, but if they do it every day and spend more than 10 minutes each class talking about their personal life, it becomes annoying. We come to school to learn and not hear about their personal lives.

You know if you know, that's all I'm gonna say. LMAO

Q: We're gonna switch over to academics, what clubs are you a part of?

Blessing: I’m in the Speech and Debate Club and the Women Empowerment Club.

Q: I don’t know if you read the MVA Times article, MVA Clubs Arise, it was about a theory on why a large number of clubs came into existence this remote school year compared to any other year, what is your hot take on all the new clubs in general?

Blessing: I think the new clubs are good because they have given us a chance to socialize since we are no longer in person. It's also given us a chance to meet new people that we would have met in person.

Q: Is there anything that teachers or faculty members could do to make this year better and more effective?

Blessing: Besides getting more involved and doing what they are already doing, there’s nothing much.

Q: Anything else you would like to talk about or make aware of the MVA community?

Blessing: Yea-- this is just in general so. If you see something on social media and question if it’s about you, it’s probably not. So don’t get upset with the mirror just fix the reflection. Shouldn’t think too highly of yourself, but not too little of yourself at the same time.
