On behalf of Juneteenth Nevada, dedicated to advancing Black heritage and culture, we are reaching out to humbly request investment in our community effort. This funding would provide critical General Operating Support to help us continue our impactful programs that uplift Black culture, empower youth, and promote community enrichment, through workshops, mentorship, and community engagement.
Organization Overview:
National Juneteenth Observance Foundation Nevada / Juneteenth Nevada is deeply committed to advancing the recognition of Juneteenth in Nevada and nationwide. Our organization played an essential role in passing the 2011 Nevada Juneteenth Day of Observance and the 2023 Nevada Juneteenth State Holiday. in addition, we contributed to the establishment of the 2021 Federal Juneteenth National Independence Day to ensure Juneteenth is honored in perpetuity.
We believe that commemorating Juneteenth is not only about celebrating Black history but also about fostering a more inclusive society that values the contributions of all people. Our programs strive to dismantle systemic barriers, create equitable opportunities, and promote the inclusion of underrepresented communities. We aim to cultivate a culture of respect, empowerment, and unity.
Statement of Need:
Nevada continues to face systemic challenges in education, representation, and cultural awareness. Our youth often lack access to resources and mentorship that promote leadership and self-esteem. Juneteenth Nevada provides enriching experiences and educational programs that empower young people to rise above these challenges, while preserving and celebrating Black heritage through Juneteenth events, youth training, and cultural initiatives.

Program Descriptions:
Our Miss Juneteenth Nevada Scholarship Program, provides young women with an eight-week leadership and life skills development course, culminating in the crowning of Miss Juneteenth Nevada and Youth Ambassadors. These participants engage in public speaking, community service, and peer leadership roles, becoming lifelong ambassadors of our cultural mission, giving back to the community.
Miss Juneteenth Nevada creates a legacy of strong, empowered young women who embrace their heritage and make meaningful contributions to society. By participating, contestants join a sisterhood committed to celebrating cultural history while paving the way for future generations.
The Miss Juneteenth Nevada Program, part of the National Miss Juneteenth Scholarship Program, is a powerful platform for education, empowerment, and community connection, making it a truly unique and impactful experience.
Juneteenth Arts and Academics Camp, primarily an afterschool or summer program is our commitment to the younger male and female youth to teach not just African American history but American history of which we are a major component, financial literacy, and the arts.
Africa to America Music, which teaches the historical evolution of African rhythms and their influence on American music, incorporating the European instrumentation with the spirit of the composers, the heartbeat of the drums, the call and response of the church, the rap of the Harlem Renaissance and the interpretation of today’s youth. Annual presentation for all ages from solo to an 18-piece orchestra edutainment entity.
NEON Youth Book Distribution, encouraging literacy by collecting gently used materials and distributing books to underserved youth, helping them build personal libraries. Including bookshelves, books and audio items are placed in schools, community centers and churches with a passalong/ no return needed policy.
Juneteenth Flag-Raising annual ceremonies in multiple cities in partnership with state, city and county, administrations include introduction to the Juneteenth flag, inclusion of Girl Scouts and Buffalo Soldiers and speakers.
Pioneer Awards recognizing those contributions in national and state history.
Organizational Capacity:
Our leadership team has forged relationships with local governments, North Las Vegas, Las Vegas and Henderson, and partnered with organizations the Clark County Las Vegas Library District, Las Vegas Visitors and Tourism, Las Vegas and Henderson Recreational, Las Vegas community centers, Caesars Entertainment, community entrepreneurs, including the Witness Performing Arts. With more than 19 years of experience, we have proven our ability to deliver programs that promote cultural pride and unity. Our capacity to mobilize volunteers, manage large-scale events, and engage public officials at every level demonstrates our readiness to continue driving meaningful impact.
Evaluation and Sustainability:
Success will be measured through increased participation in our programs, positive feedback from beneficiaries, and the achievement of our project goals. Our organization will continue to grow by leveraging partnerships, expanding sponsorship opportunities, and securing long-term funding to sustain our programs well into the future.
