RosaMa, or Rosa for short, is a petite, gentle girl with a remarkable story. She came into Julia’s life in April 2021 as a feral and pregnant rescue. Julia opened her home to ensure RosaMa wouldn’t have to give birth outside, and then continued to offer her a home when the rescue organization did not have a place to return her outside.
Shortly after arriving, Rosa gave birth to five kittens, including Venus. While her kittens grew up knowing only the safety and comfort of a loving home, Rosa herself began a much harder journey — learning to trust people after having been born outside and unfamiliar with human interaction.
With patience, consistency, and deep compassion, Julia diligently socialized Rosa, transforming her from a fearful outdoor cat into a reserved but affectionate companion. Over time, Rosa revealed a personality that Julia described as kitten-like: curious, gentle, and quietly sweet.
Those caring for Julia’s cats since her passing have found Rosa to be remarkably curious, coming out to watch us, both eager for mealtime and happy to eat in close proximity. With some patience, she has already begun to trust her new caretakers and will come into our laps for a Churu treat and take a turn playing with the wand toy.
Rosa, who we estimate to be about 4 years old, will be shy at first in a new environment and will need time to decompress and build trust. She is not a cat who will rush into affection — but with calm, patient adopters who let her move at her own pace, Rosa forms meaningful bonds. She will need to go through an accelerated version of the same socialization process that helped her flourish in Julia’s care.
To support this transition, Lauren, who originally helped guide Rosa’s socialization, will provide personal assistance to adopters to help Rosa settle successfully into her new home.
💗 Important adoption note:
RosaMa must be adopted together with her daughter, Venus, as they are deeply bonded. Rosa is a sweet, curious soul who has already overcome so much. With Venus by her side and an understanding home, she will continue blossoming into the loving companion that Julia helped her become.
